There are loads of stats to keep track of inZenless Zone Zero, and while most of them are easy to understand, there are two that might be a little confusing at first: Anomaly Proficiency and Anomaly Mastery. These two stats are intricately linked to the Attribute Anomaly debuffs that can be inflicted on enemies, giving them debuffs like Burn and Shock to help wear them down.
Combat inZenless Zone Zeromight seem fairly simple at first, but there are lots of mechanics going on beneath the surface that need to be understood to survive each mission, especially in the difficultHollow Zero mode. Once you figure out what Attribute Proficiency and Attribute Mastery are, you’ll be one step closer to burning, shocking, and freezing your enemies in no time at all.

What Is Attribute Anomaly In Zenless Zone Zero?
Shock, Corruption, Burn, Freeze, And Flinch
Before diving into Anomaly Proficiency and Mastery, it’s important to understand what Attribute Anomaly is inZenless Zone Zero.Attribute Anomaly is a debuff that can be applied to enemies when an Agent deals enough Attribute damage to them. For example, whenKoleda deals Fire-type damageto an enemy, it will eventually get the Burn Attribute Anomaly, which deals consistent damage for a short period of time.
There are five Attribute types in Zenless Zone Zero: Electric, Ether, Fire, Ice, and Physical. Every Agent will have one of these types. These are different from their Specialty.

You can keep track of Attribute Anomaly buildup by checking the symbol that appears next to an enemy’s health bar. Keep in mind that if you switch to anAgent who has a different Attribute typeduring battle, you’ll start building that Attribute Anomaly instead. If you manage to successfully inflict two different Attribute Anomaly debuffs within a few seconds, you’ll trigger a powerful Disorder effect that deals a huge amount of damage.
What Is The Difference Between Anomaly Proficiency And Mastery?
Damage Dealt And Build-Up Time
Anomaly Proficiency is a stat that impacts the amount of damage an Agent can deal when inflicting an Attribute Anomaly on an enemy. Think of this as a damage booster, with a higher stat number meaning a bigger amount of damage dealt.
On the other hand,Anomaly Mastery impacts how quickly an Agent can build up Attribute Anomaly on an enemy. So an Agent that has a high Anomaly Mastery stat will have an easier time dishing out Attribute Anomaly multiple times during a battle.

How To Improve Anomaly Proficiency And Mastery In ZZZ
Look To W-Engines
The main way to improve Anomaly Proficiency or Mastery is toequip the right W-Engine. These handy items provide a boost to an Agent’s Base Attack stat, as well as a boost to an Advanced Stat, which can include Anomaly Proficiency and Anomaly Mastery. This is the quickest way to boost one of these two stats for an Agent, provided you have the right W-Engine in your inventory.
As well as these immediate stat boosts,W-Engines also provide a unique W-Engine Effect which can only be triggered by an Agent who has a matching Specialty. For example, the [Magnetic Storm] Alpha’s W-Engine Effect can only be triggered by Agents with the Anomaly Specialty. This effect increases the equipper’s Anomaly Mastery by 25 for 10 seconds when accumulating Anomaly Buildup.

Which Agents Are Best For Inflicting Attribute Anomaly Debuffs?
Grace And Piper Are Anomaly Specialists
You might have noticed thatsome Agents have Anomaly as their SpecialtyinZenless Zone Zero. Right now, there are only two of these in the game:Graceand Piper. These two characters both have higher-than-usual Anomaly Proficiency stats, which makes them great choices if you want to focus on dealing damage to enemies through Attribute Anomaly debuffs.
While these two Agents excel in dishing out Attribute Anomaly debuffs, it’s arguablymore important to focus on having at least two Agents with the same Attribute type in your squad. For example, if you pair Anton and Anby, who both have the Electric Attribute type, you can switch between them using Chain Attacks to quickly build up Electric-type Attribute damage and apply the Shock debuff to an enemy.

The effectiveness of your Anomaly Attribute debuffs is also impacted by the type of enemy you’re fighting. Different enemies have different weaknesses, and if you’re able to target them with the right Anomaly Attribute type, you’ll deal extra damage and remove any shields much quicker. Most missions inZenless Zone Zerowill recommend an Attribute type to help with this.
