Meta’s X competitor Threads has rolled out the ability for users to edit their posts after publishing. But the feature will only be available on posts for a certain amount of time after you have posted something.

Threads Rolls Out Post Editing for Everyone

Theofficial Threads accountannounced the new feature on 12 October, 2023. Unlike on X (formerly Twitter), the ability to edit posts is not locked behind a subscription.

The time limit to edit your posts is only five minutes, meaning that you have to be quick about it. In our tests, you also couldn’t add new images to a post or remove images from a previously published post. Rather, you’re able to only edit the text of the post.

Another difference between the edit feature on Threads versus X is that an edited post on Threads does not include a label that it has been edited or a revision history of the edits.

How to Edit a Post on Threads

Editing a post on Threads is simple and only takes a few steps.

If you’ve posted something you want to change, follow these steps:

TheEditbutton also includes a timer, so you know how much time you have left to make changes to a post. If the five-minute time limit lapses, the option to edit the post will disappear. Instead, you will only see the option to hide like counts, delete the post, or select who can reply.

The update, which comes with voice posts, can be considered one of thefeatures Threads needs to be an X-killer. While Threads was initially quite bare-bones on launch, it has since rolled out multiple features, including the Threads web platform.

Freely Edit Your Threads Posts

Threads lets you edit your posts without needing a Meta Verified subscription, a welcome addition to the app for many users. You can change the text of posts if you spot a typo, as long as you do it within five minutes.
