Contains a preview forX-Factor #1!

The newest member ofX-Factor, Cameo, has a power that supercedes Deadpool’s meta abilities as seen in a preview forX-Factor #1. While Deadpool is best known for breaking the fourth wall and acknowledging his own role in his comic stories, Cameo takes this aspect even further. With this new hero, Marvel can seemingly deliver any character a writer could want to use.

X-Factor #1has the creative team of Mark Russell, Bob Quinn, Jesus Aburtov, and Joe Caramagna. The series gives the X-Factor team its newest title. This iteration of the team includes Angel, Havok, Feral, Firefist, Xyber, and Cameo. Thus far, one focus seems to be on the reaction of the world to mutants being back in society now that Krakoa has fallen, leaving the X-Men without their own nation once more.

The cover of X-Factor #1 features the X-Factor team shown in action, while the upper cover mirrors Uncle Sam recruitment posters.

X-Factor’s Team Struggles with Its Image From the Start

A preview forX-Factor #1shows the struggles that the team is facing as it meets a crowd at a red-carpet event. The team is partially owned by Angel, who could see a profit from it if it is well received by the public. However, given the lack of perceived A-list mutants he is working with, the public seems less than excited about the newest X-Factor group. Seemingly intrigued bythe appearance of Beast, the crowd is actively disappointed when it’s actually revealed to be Cameo using their special ability. As a shape-shifter, Cameo can take on the image of other beings. The extent of this ability has yet to be seen.

A team-up with Cameo could give Deadpool the kind of pull he’d most enjoy.

Until the limitations of Cameo’s power are revealed, the ability to appear as others could prove highly effective - and enviable by iconic Marvel characters.Deadpool is known for enjoying cameosand wanting fun team-ups, discussing the subject in meta ways in both comics and in film. With the power to be anyone, the mercenary would be able to steal the show in a way he never has. A team-up with Cameo could give Deadpool the kind of pull he’d most enjoy. This preview does not reveal how many different forms the X-Factor hero can take on, nor if there’s a limit to how they use the power’s potential.

Cameo’s Potential for X-Factor is Still Untapped

As a shape-shifter, Cameo can take on the image of other beings. The extent of this ability has yet to be seen.

With Cameo’s ability being revealed at the red-carpet debut of the team, an element of surprise may have already been taken away. The team could have had an ace up its sleeve, making enemies believe an A-lister was present, such as Beast, or Cyclops. Now, if their presence online spreads far enough,X-Factor’s enemies could knowCameo isn’t the threat they initially present themselves to be. Nonetheless, this power could still prove incredibly helpful if employed in highly strategic ways, the way X-Men fans have seen Morph and Mystique be utilized. In time, Cameo could move up the ranks with this incredible power that Deadpool would likely be very jealous of.
