Today’s Connections Category Hints
JULY 22 #406
There are a few challenging categories to fill in today, with a few misdirects as well. Here are a few hints to nudge you in the right direction before we start spoiling category names and answers.
Knowing the categories for today is a massive boost. To give you that boost, we have them all listed out for you:

FOOD ___
FIELD
SPHERE
This category is a bit easier than the others, but there are still some tricks up the editor’s sleeve here.AREA and SPHERE both have geometrical connections, and they could quite easily go with CONE and PYRAMID to form such a category.
TRIANGLE might also fit in with some of these, but that one is the easiest to eliminate due to the green category. Looking at DOMAIN and FIELD gives you the biggest hint as to what the category actually is, and utilizing that will help you see AREA and SPHERE also belong.

RECORDER
TRIANGLE
This one was the easiest for us as FIDDLE is a very distinctive word compared to the rest of the options. Seeing that with HORN gives you a good idea of what to look for, and RECORDER brought us back to 4th grade where an entire class full of 9 and 10-year-olds tried to figure out how to play music. TRIANGLE was a little tricky with its potential ties to other words, but it is a very famous percussion instrument and there are no other obvious instruments.

FLAG
FLARE
This one was a little tricky, BARRIER and CONE were the most obvious connection. Because of this, we were quite sure CHAIN also belonged here, in fact, almost all of our guesses involved CHAIN andwe should have tried to deduce what the other category might be firstto see if it did belong here or not since we kept seeing “One Away.”
PROCESSOR
PYRAMID
Maybe we never participated in enough food FIGHT incidents in school, but this one just slipped past us today. PROCESSOR and PYRAMID are probably the biggest hints when taken together, which should lead fairly easily into FIGHT. However, trying to come up with this tie was difficult for us today, and it is also the reason why knowing the categories would have been essential for us.
