Househad itsfair share of ridiculous storylines over the course of its eight-season run,but after rewatching the show, it’s clear to me which one is the worst. The Fox medical drama TV series, created by David Shore, stars Hugh Laurie as the eponymous character, Dr. Gregory House, the narcissistic and cynical Head of the Department of Diagnostic Medicine at the fictional Princeton–Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey.House leads a team of diagnosticians, which primarily includes Dr. Robert Chase, Dr. Allison Cameron, and Dr. Eric Foreman. They come together every episode to diagnose patients with mysterious illnesses.
Housewas nominated for 13 Emmys throughout its eight-year run, winning two — Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for David Shore’s “Three Stories” in 2005 and Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series for Greg Yaitanes' “House’s Head” in 2008. Hugh Laurie also garnered six Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Dr. Gregory House.

Aside fromHouse’s many memorable cases, the Fox TV show is also known for its various complex relationships, both platonic and romantic. I would argue that the dynamic between House and his best friend, Dr. James Wilson, isthe most important relationship inHouseas it is unwavering and stands the test of time (unlike some of the other couples in the series). However, even thoughHousecontains many healthy and exciting relationships, it also includes one that is better off being forgotten.
House & Cameron’s Potential Relationship Was One Of House’s Worst Storylines
The Romance Between House & Cameron Was Never Believable Or Likable
Even when watchingHousefor the first time, I could see that the House/Cameron duo wasn’t a good idea. A rewatch only affirmed this belief and made me even more weirded out by their potential (one-sided) relationship. The writers should never have introduced this storyline as ittaints the quality of the medical drama and feels forced. When House and Cameron (who share a large age gap) are on the screen, secondhand embarrassment ensues, driving one to look away or fast-forward through the cringe-worthy scenes.
Cameron is the one practically begging House to love her throughout the series, while House keeps her at a distance because he doesn’t see her in a romantic light.

It’s safe to say that House and Cameron are not one ofthe best couples inHouse. Cameron is the one practically begging House to love her throughout the series, while House keeps her at a distance because he doesn’t see her in a romantic light. Their dynamic is completely one-sided, and Cameron’s love isn’t even real (in my opinion). As a result,House and Cameron’s will-they-won’t-they relationship is easily one ofHouse’s worst plotlines.
Cameron Liking House Gets Even Worse On A Rewatch
The Show Paints Cameron In A Negative Light
Jennifer Morrison’s Cameron certainly never tops anyone’s list ofbestHousecharacters. Cameron is rather unlikeable in the Fox medical drama, partly due to her unrelenting behavior concerning her crush on House. She can never take no for an answer, and it’s pathetic seeing her consistently pursuing House.Cameron’s fixation on House is that she believes she can fix him,and he doesn’t want to change. Therefore, Cameron is in love with the idea of House, which results in a cringe-worthy storyline. The power dynamic between House and Cameron as boss and subordinate also makes their relationship quite uncomfortable to watch.
Odette Annable
Dr. Jessica Adams
When rewatchingall eight seasons ofHouse, the House/Cameron storyline is also frustrating because the writers attempt to sweep it under the rug. Perhaps they recognized their mistake in forcing their potential relationship on viewers and quickly pivoted.Houseabruptly drops the plot surrounding Cameron’s crush on Houseand brings Cameron and Chase (who have much better chemistry) together instead. Over time, it’s weird to think that Cameron ever wanted to date her boss. But try as they may, the writers can’t undo this weird storyline.
House & Cameron’s Relationship Would Have Been A Disaster
Even though I do not look back on Cameron’s unrequited love for House with any sense of fondness, this horribleHousestoryline could have been much worse.Thankfully, House never gives in to Cameron’s pursuits throughoutHouse’s episodes. They go on a date once (because Cameron essentially coerces House into it), but it never leads to anything, which is the best choice for both characters.
I Watched House’s First Episode In 2004 & This Is What I Got So Wrong About The Show
House season 1, episode 1, “Everybody Lies” hinted at the show’s potential, but I never predicted the medical drama would become as big as it did.
It wouldn’t have made sense if House eventually grew to love Cameron in the Fox medical drama. She was never his type, and one could see thatthe two characters were not compatiblefrom a mile away, and their romance would have crashed and burned (just likeChase and Cameron’s marriage inHouse). Despite this one upside to the House/Cameron storyline, it’s still undoubtedly one of the worst things to ever happen inHouse.

House
Cast
House is a medical mystery drama in which the villain is typically a difficult-to-diagnose medical malady. It follows Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), a world-renowned disabled diagnostician with a notorious substance abuse issue. With his team of world-class doctors, House has built a reputation as one of the most brilliant doctors in the world - an especially impressive feat when taking into account that he rarely actually sees his patients.
