Summary
The Umbrella Academyseason 4 will see the Hargreeves facing another end of the world one final time, and due to the source of the apocalypse this time, it’s mirroring the saddest moment from season 2 with a twist. Despite the success of its previous seasons and the many mysteries they left,The Umbrella Academyis ending with its fourth season, which will have a lot to cover and answer to bring the series to a satisfying end.The Umbrella Academyseason 3 endedwith the Hargreeves arriving at a new timeline designed by Reginald, where they made a shocking discovery.
The Hargreeves (and Lila) realized they no longer have their powers, and in addition to that, Reginald and his wife are alive and well, Reginald is the most powerful man, Sloane is nowhere to be found, and Allison has her daughter and her 1960s husband. The Umbrella Academyseason 4’s final trailerrevealed that, in addition to regaining their powers, the Hargreeves will be facing one more apocalypse, though this time it will be triggered by Ben (Justin H. Min) – and thanks to this, season 4 is mirroring season 2’s saddest scene.

I Don’t Think The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Focusing On Ben Is A Good Idea
The Umbrella Academy season 4 will have Ben at the front and center of the conflict, but I don’t think that’s a good idea for the final season.
The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Is Mirroring Viktor & Ben’s Best (& Saddest) Moment Together
Although not many plot details aboutThe Umbrella Academyseason 4 have been revealed, the trailers so far have given a good idea of what to expect. Luckily, the Hargreeves won’t spend too long without their powers (though, apparently, a lot of time has passed since season 3’s ending), but they will be facing another apocalypse and more timeline issues, teasing the exploration of a multiverse. The final trailer ofThe Umbrella Academyseason 4 made a huge reveal as now Ben will be the trigger of the apocalypse.
The trailer shows Viktor calling Ben to tell him something is going on with him and that he’s on pace to end the world in 24 hours. Later on, Nick Offerman’s character saysthe “tentacle boy” is the key to understanding the timelines, so there will be a bigger focus on Ben inThe Umbrella Academy’s final season. However, Viktor being the one who calls Ben and, apparently, brings the rest of the team together to prevent the end of the world (again) is reminiscent of season 2’s saddest scene, starring Ben and Viktor.

Ben, who by then was still a ghost summoned by Klaus, was the only one who could get to Viktor and so he entered his mind to calm him.
InThe Umbrella Academyseason 2, the apocalypse was about to be triggered once more by Viktor, who was taken by the FBI for interrogation as he was suspected of being a KGB spy. Viktor was drugged and tortured with electrical shocks that restored his memories and unleashed his powers, which would have caused the apocalypse. As his siblings were unable to physically reach him, Ben, who by then was still a ghost summoned by Klaus, was the only one who could get to him and so he entered his mind to calm him.

Viktor and Ben hugged and shared a very emotional sibling momentbefore Ben crossed over and Viktor came out of his trance. Now,inThe Umbrella Academyseason 4, it’s Viktor the one helping Benas he’s the source of the apocalypse, though with a twist as this version of Ben is alive, so, in theory, it should be easier for Viktor to help his brother than when ghost Ben entered his mind.
Why Viktor Helping Ben In The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Makes Sense
Viktor Has Gone Through A Lot In The Umbrella Academy
Viktor has a lot more experience with apocalypses as the source of two.
While Ben has been left aside through most ofThe Umbrella Academy(first because he was a ghost and later because he was part of the Sparrow Academy),Viktor has been at the center of the conflict more than once. InThe Umbrella Academyseason 1, Viktor was the one who caused the apocalypse Five tried so hard to prevent, and in season 2 he almost caused another one. In season 3, it was confirmed Viktor had passed his powers on to Harlan, who couldn’t control his powers and, when his mother died, had an outburst that killed the mothers of the Umbrellas, thus creating a grandfather paradox.
Although all the Hargreeves have dealt with at least one end of the world, Viktor has a lot more experience in this type of disaster as the source of two. Despite everything he went through as a child with Reginald and his siblings and how the latter pushed him away when they grew up,Viktor is the one sibling who cares for everyone and does his best to keep the team together, and this will continue in season 4.
Because of all this, it makes sense that Viktor will be the one to help Ben through whatever he’s going through that turns him into the trigger of the apocalypse, as he’s pretty much the only one who can guide him through something like this and give him comfort, just like ghost Ben did to him in season 2.
The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Can Either Fix One Ben Problem Or Make It Worse
The Umbrella Academy Was Limited By Ben’s Death
Because Ben was a ghost he could only interact with Klaus.
As mentioned above,The Umbrella Academyleft Ben aside for the most part of its past seasons because he was a ghost and thus could only interact with Klaus. In season 2, through possession, Ben was able to interact briefly with Diego and later with Viktor inside his mind, and in season 3, there wasn’t much interaction between Sparrow Ben and the other Umbrellas. By having Viktor help Ben in season 4,The Umbrella Academycan fix this problem, asBen will finally be able to interact and create a dynamic with someone other than Klaus.
However, this can also makeThe Umbrella Academy’s Ben problem worse if he isn’t given enough time and interaction with other characters who aren’t Viktor (and Klaus). The Umbrella Academyseason 4 is the show’s final chance to fix its biggest problems, but it’s also the show’s shortest season, so it’s to be seen how it will address its biggest mysteries and problems and, hopefully, it will do so in coherent and satisfying ways.
The Umbrella Academy
The Umbrella Academy is based on the comic book of the same name created by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá. The Hargreeves — collectively known as The Umbrella Academy — were born with superpowers, and their adoptive father utilized their abilities. However, as they grew older, the siblings grew apart as they dealt with their trauma. They are brought back together after their father dies and Five returns from the future with grave news: The world will end, and The Umbrella Academy has to stop it before it happens.
