The character Bunny inThe First Descendanthas a unique questline that begins with the"Follow Their Traces"mission, a quest that asks you to talk to different NPCs and discover new areas. Bunny needs help finding records from her parents, but these can be hard to find. Although you don’t have to fight anyone to complete this quest, certain limitations can complicate different steps of the mission.
Bunny is one of the firstcharacters you unlock inThe First Descendantby progressing through the early missions of the game’s campaign story. You gain access to Bunny’s exclusive questline once you recruit her and complete her research training with Descendant Instructor Albion. Once this has been done, you cantalk to the NPC Alpha, who gives you Bunny’s mission alongside any other quests you’ve already accepted.

How To Complete The “Follow Their Traces” Quest
Track Down Audio Logs In A Restricted Zone
You can check which missions are active for your character by opening your Journal in the game’s Quest menu. A record called"Transcript of Operation Records - Restricted Zone: Level 1 Classification"given to you by Alpha can be read here to start Bunny’s questline. This log should be through the"Records"section of the Journal, directly under Bunny in the"Descendant"category you can navigate to.
The record placed in your Journal tells you thatBunny needs to find another record from her parents in the Restricted Zone of the Sterile Land region. This map is locked away, preventing Bunny or any of your recruited characters from traveling within it. You can only enter the Sterile Land’s Restricted Zone when youfully clear the Rockfall and Repository areaswhile pursuing other main story objectives.
You also need to do the"Successful Infiltration"quest for the character Sharen before your team is allowed to enter the Sterile Land’s Restricted Zone for Bunny’s mission.
Even as you useAmorphous Material inThe First Descendantfrom these prerequisite missions to become stronger, you don’t have to fight against any enemies when traveling within the Restricted Zone of the Sterile Land. Once you gain access to this area, simplyhead southeast from the area’s spawn pointalongside the border of your map. From here, you should see a High-Powered Jammer where another mission takes place.
Look alongside the cliffs toward the bottom left of the Restricted Zone’s map to eventually see a record lying around the rocks. Pick it up and open your Journal once again to listen to this record, which chronicles how Bunny’s parents were in an active investigation some time ago. Hearing all the"Emergency Communications Records - Agent Cayden Voltia"audio log will lead you to the next stages of Bunny’s questline.
Rewards & Steps After The “Following Their Traces” Quest

No rewards are given for completing"Following Their Traces"once you read the record about Bunny’s parents. However, the items you collect from clearing the Rockfall and Repository areas to unlock the Sterile Land’s Restricted Zone could be considered earnings for your efforts. Several valuable items, such asVoid Shards inThe First Descendant, can be collected as you finish parts of this quest during your travels.
Void Shards are particularly valuable items for creatingBunny’s best build inThe First Descendant, which utilizes electricity and speed to dismantle any enemies you may come across in later missions to her questline.
The first stage of this questline finishes when youreturn to HQ in Albion and talk to Alphaabout Bunny’s parents. This will reveal another NPC named Nell standing close by, who will give you the next mission in the series of quests tied to Bunny. This quest, titled"The Traces Continue,“continues the character-specific side story based on the information you gathered.
Similar to the Sterile Land Restriction Zone, you have tofind a way to unlock the Vespers areato reach Ruins during the second phase of Bunny’s questline. If you can’t access this place yet, return to the main story and make progress until you make the area available. Finishing the"Follow Their Traces"quest is only the beginning of Bunny’s story inThe First Descendant, so be prepared to do this many times.
