For those struggling to runArk: Survival Ascended, there are multiple ways to make the game run smoothly. For everythingAscendeddoes better thanEvolved, italmost always comes back to the problem of needing high specs to play. Console platforms rarely feel playable, with most areas getting around 30–45 fps. This factor is a bit of a mix where console platforms are usually capped, but also with the high demandsAscendedrequires.

PC is a weird case that depends on the user’s equipment. Though the game will set a relatively high bar, it can be surprisingly flexible. However, this also depends on whether the user is okay with sacrificing graphical quality for stability. I runAscendedon a computer slightly below the minimum specs, andthese tips have helped me run the game at a respectable 80 fps, even with some ofArk: Survival Ascended’s best mods.

The Best Settings To Change On Ark: Survival Ascended

Balancing Quality And Performance

First, depending on the specs of one’s PC or console generation,it is best to set all graphical settings to low or medium. This will lower the game’s graphical quality but still keep it on par, if not slightly worse than what can be seen inEvolved. On the right side of the Graphics tab, there are more personal choices, as many won’t greatly impact stability. However,it is best to disable Foliage & Fluid Interaction and lower all Foliage multiples to their lowest options.

The other important tab to look at is Video. Here, the important changes are made to the Max Frame Rate and Resolution Scale. The former should be unchecked to let the game decide what it can run at, whereas the latter should be set to 90 or 100 to get the best out of the equipment. VSync is a personal preference, but I turn it off to avoid complications when trying to max framerate. Lastly, the Resolution can be lowered to 1600x900 as a final option. This will drastically impact the graphical quality of the game but give a sizable boost to frames.

Console Commands To Improve Performance In Ark: Survival Ascended

Removing The Extra Fluff

Console Commands can be an extra edge if just changing the settings isn’t enough. The console menu is opened by hitting the tilde key on PC, or on the console by opening the pause menu and hitting Menu and View on Xbox, or both Option keys on PlayStation while console access is enabled. The best recommendations I can make that don’t largely impact the graphical quality of the game are as follows:

Those four alone should be enough to makeAscendedrun at over 60 fps. However, if they don’t, there are a few more that can be used. However, these come with the caveat that they will make the game look vastly worse and could ruin the play experience.

Overall, while it is unfortunate that many are hamstrung from playingAscendeddue to technical requirements, it is good that there are some workarounds. Hopefully, the highly anticipated sequel can launch with more flexible requirements, but that will remain to be seen. Regardless, these are the best settings and console commands to makeArk: Survival Ascendedrun smoothly on lower-end platforms so players can check out all thedinosaurs and creatureswith a much improved experience.
