AtSan Diego Comic-Con,Siloseason 2 revealed much more than its release date. A first-look trailer featuring never-before-seen footage gave us a glimpse into the sophomore outing’s plot and casting, confirming thatnone other than Steve Zahn will be playing a character inSiloseason 2. Given the actor’s memorable stint on HBO’sWhite Lotus, I couldn’t be happier with this news, especially when I realized who Zahn’s character will most likely be in the upcoming season. Based onHugh Howey’sSilobook trilogy, I think the series was one of 2023’s best series.
In Graham Yost’s (Justified) sci-fi drama,Rebecca Ferguson (Dune 2) plays engineer Juliette Nichols, who, along with other survivors, lives in a community that exists in an underground silo. Comprised of 144 levels, the titular structure contains more thanSilo’s cast of characters. The show’s dystopian setting holds secrets — those related to both the past and present — and, for me, that’s what makes Apple TV+’s sci-fi series compelling. Of course, powerhouse performances certainly help, so the news of Steve Zahn joining Ferguson, Rashida Jones, David Oyelowo, and the rest of the ensemble is incredibly exciting.

Based on the information shared withScreen Rantat SDCC, I have to believe Steve Zahn will be playing theSiloseries' Solo. Apple TV+ has been tight-lipped about Zahn’s role, but withSiloseason 2’s release date confirmed,it’s only a matter of time until we learn more about the sophomore outing’s trajectory. InSiloseason 1’s ending, Juliette makes it out of her silo. Once she climbs out of the crate that holds her underground bunker, the engineer sees dozens of similar crates, each with its own silo. Obviously, this sets up a thrillingSiloseason 2.

In theSiloseason 2 footage shared at SDCC, we saw Juliette exploring an abandoned silo. At a certain point,the clip introduces a potentially violent newcomer played by Steve Zahn. Although he isn’t introduced by name, Zahn’s character has been locked inside a room. Zahn peers out at Juliette, warning her that if she uses the keypad to open the door, he’ll kill her. It’s a chilling introduction that signals Solo to me. Regardless, there’s no denying thatSiloseason 2 will expand the scope of its world and story.
