Station 19star Danielle Savre, who portrayed Maya Bishop, discusses the show’s seven-season run and its definitive ending in 2024. TheGrey’s Anatomyspinoff, which followed the lives of firefighters and paramedics at Station 19 in Seattle, featured a strong ensemble including Jaina Lee Ortiz, Grey Damon, Jason Winston George, and Jay Hayden. The series garnered a dedicated audience and generally positive reviews for its diverse cast and engrossing plotlines. Sadly,Station 19ended with season 7, although the reason for the cancellation is unclear.
During an interview withScreen Rant’s Zak Wojnar, Savre discussed how the show’s conclusion allowed for a sense of closure for Maya and the other characters. Unlike many shows that leave their endings open for interpretation,Station 19provided a complete and uplifting resolution, offering a glimpse into the future where the characters' goals are fulfilled.Savre expressed gratitude towards showrunners Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige for avoiding cliffhangers or tragic outcomes. However, she also shared her playful take, suggesting that these flash-forwards could also be viewed as fantasies. Check out her comments below:

“It was. And it was beautiful the way that both Zoanne and Peter decided to play it out because they could have decided, ‘Okay, we’re going to do big cliffhangers, or people are going to pass away,’ or things like that. But they really did a service to the fanbase, and made it as much of a happy ending as they could. Those flash-forwards were really beautiful. And I think we really all got what we wanted for our characters in the end, which was happiness and success and all of us having all of our wishes and dreams come true.
Which was funny, because a take on that, was people were saying, ‘No, these were just fantasies,’ so that, if the show were to ever continue, you make them out to be actually like, ‘What’s not what happened.’ And chaos ensues. None of that was real, you know? These flash-forwards. So it was a fun kind of thing to be like, ‘Well, if anything happens, that’s what we can kind of do.’ Play with these flash-forwards in a way that maybe they’re not really reality, and how would that unfold if they weren’t?”

What This Means ForStation 19’sDefinitive Conclusion
The Series' Characters Got Their Satisfying Endings
Station 19’sdecision to show the characters' flash-forwarded lives presented a clear and hopeful vision for their futures. Each character’s journey reached a satisfying conclusion, where dreams were realized, and personal goals were achieved, such as Maya becoming captain and Andy (Ortiz) becoming chief. The decision contrasts with other procedural shows that opted for ambiguous endings, such asThe X-FilesorTwin Peaks. OnStation 19,viewers were given the satisfaction of seeing the characters move forward, knowing they had reached a fulfilling place in their lives.
Station 19 Season 7 Ending Explained
Station 19’s series finale included surprising developments but, all in all, fittingly concluded its characters' stories following season 7’s setup.
However, Savre’s suggestion that the flash-forwards could be reinterpreted as fantasies gives an interesting perspective on the finale. If the show were ever to return, these moments could be revisited in new ways, allowing for future developments. This concept gives the show a degree of flexibility if the creators decide to bring back any characters for a possibleStation 19revival.This could alsoopen the chance for an expansion in a possible spinoffor acharacter appearance inGrey’s Anatomy. For instance, Dr. Ben Warren (Jason George) became a returning character inGrey’s Anatomyfollowing the conclusion ofStation 19.

Station 19’sseries finale offered a pensive and conclusive ending to the show.
