Stardew Valley’s 1.6 Update is finally here for everyone on console and mobile andone player wants to share a helpful tip that was quietly added in the latest major patch. When it comes to storage, Farmers are known to collect a mountain of items that they need to upgrade their equipment and it’s all usually stored in chests placed around their home. In previous versions ofStardew Valley, it was painfully tedious to move the crates around since everything needed to first be removed, but with the 1.6 Update that’s now a thing of the past.
Posting to Reddit, userthevickitshared a helpful post explaining that moving a chest no longer requires farmers to take out the contents:Simply hitting a full box with a tool will shift it over one space in the direction it’s aimed.

It seems like a minor upgrade but given how long many players spent optimizing the layout of their farm, it can save fans plenty of time. Userwhimseawent one step further by noting thatplacing a Large Chest over a Normal Chest now automatically transfers the contents, which is extremely helpful.
Stardew Valley 1.6 Changes The Game
Making Farmers' Lives Easier Since 2024
ConcernedApe has done an incredible job of breaking downeverything players need to knowabout the 1.6 Update but some fun secretsweren’t included in the original patch notes. One of themost useful secret additionsisthe ability to increase a horse’s speed by giving the animal a carrot. On a similar note, the efficiency of theSmall Junimo Hutcan be improved by feeding the critters Raisins, boosting the yield of the crops they harvest.
Those are two major mechanical upgrades quietly excluded from the patch notes but 1.6 also contains some flavorful additions. The patch adds two more Secret Notes to the gamewith one leading players to uncover a compendium of their Grandpa’s greatest discoveries. Perhaps the most beneficial secret inclusion istheStatue Of Blessingswhich provides Farmers with a random buff every day; None of the options are particularly bad but they can help shape the direction of one’s activities.
