Marvelrevealed the details of8 Deaths of Spider-Manduring San Diego Comic-Con. The story sees Doctor Doom task Spidey with taking on an evil god, giving him a new suit and extra lives to do so.

Spinning out of the events ofBlood Hunt,Doctor Doom is the Sorcerer Supreme, and he has a new mission for Spider-Man: defeat a god Doom is too busy to fight. The saga will be written by Joe Kelly and drawn by Ed McGuinness andthe event will kick off withAmazing Spider-Man#61 on November 11.
Spider-Man Gets New Armor and Lives as Doom Preps Him to Take on a God
InBlood Hunt,Doctor Doom becomes Sorcerer Supreme while Doctor Strange’s body is infected with vampirism. Marvel has revealed that Doom retains the title, and helps to save the world in the event, leading to the upcoming"One World Under Doom" Marvel status quo. One of Doom’s first actions will be doing what any good leader does: delegating. The god that Spider-Man will fight is one that Doctor Strange took on year in and year out, but Doom has more important matters to attend to, so he’s leaving that to Peter.
One big question is why Spider-Man would be willing to work with Doctor Doom. One possibility involves Miles Morales. InBlood Hunt,Miles is transformed into a vampire, and previews have revealed that his vampirism continues past the event itself.Peter might be working with Doom to save the life of his friend. It’s also possible that Peter is motivated by what he’s always motivated by: responsibility. If Doom can successfully argue that Spider-Man is the only one who can stop whatever threat he’ll be facing, then Peter would have no choice.

Why Would Doom Give This Task to Spider-Man?
This leads into the other big question:why would Doom choose Spider-Man for this? There may be something about Spidey, either his moral fiber and tenaciousness, or maybe his connection to the mystical Web of Life, that makes him perfect for this job. Or Doom could just be doing this for a laugh, delegating something to Spider-Man that would be easy for another hero to accomplish, simply to watch Peter almost die attempting it.Spider-Man, agent ofDoctor Doom, is a very different look for Peter, but it’s sure to be an exciting one as8 Deaths of Spider-Mankicks off in November.
