Opening this tale with Punisher taking on a horde of “Sym-Brood-Ants,”Frank introduces “Sound” and “Fury,” his sonic pistol and energy handgunthat utterly obliterates his Klyntar-infused foes. Calling in his literal killing machine sidekick Chip next,Punisher unsheathes a very lightsaber-esque energy blade, then proceeds to drop a “blackout bomb,”a weapon of mass destruction that opens up a black hole and sucks in the Symbiote Brood-infested planet whole. Fighting a bulked-up version of Sabretooth,Punisher promptly stabs him with a pair of two-pronged laser claws, then finally unleashes the “most powerful weapon in the universe,” the Ultimate Nullifier.

Yet since Frank is still a soldier at heart, having access to these types of tools makes him even more dangerous, with Starship Marie, a sentient ship capable of blasting enemies from orbit and teleporting Frank as needed, effectivelyturning Punisher into a vicious and unrelenting high-tech threat.

The Punisher stars Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, who first appeared on Netflix’sDaredevil. Frank is a United States Marine Corps Scout Sniper veteran who is highly skilled in martial arts, stealth tactics, guerrilla warfare, and knows how to use a variety of weapons. The death of his wife and two children led him to take matters into his own hands, and he has been killing criminals indiscriminately ever since. Despite being beloved by fans,The Punisherwas canceled in early 2019. Thankfully for fans of Bernthal’s character, it was announced in 2023 that he would be joining the MCU by appearing inDaredevil: Born Again, starring Charlie Cox.
