According to the officialPlayStationX (formerly Twitter) page, the PS Plus free games for January 2025 areNeed for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered,The Stanlet Parable: Ultra Deluxe, andSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. While there’s nothing necessarily wrong with the former two games, many players take issue with the latter, sinceSuicide Squadwill stop releasing new contentafter the conclusion of its current season this month.
Players Aren’t Happy With PS Plus Games For January
The announcement of this month’s PS Plus games has led to an overwhelmingly negative reaction from players on social media, many of whom are operating under the assumption thatSuicide Squadis shutting off its servers this month. The servers aren’t actually going offline, though; it’s just new content updates that are coming to a stop, while the game itself will remain available in both single and multiplayer modes for the foreseeable future.
Warner Bros' Next DC Game Has To Learn From Suicide Squad: KTJL’s Biggest Mistakes
Warner Bros' next DC game has to learn from Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’s Biggest Mistakes if it wants to be financially successful.
Still, players have every right to criticize, especially consideringthe game’s poor reviews, and the fact that it’s already on deep discount at multiple retail stores and other online platforms.Suicide Squadwas widely pannedfor its technical issues, inclusion of microtransactions in a full-priced game, and lack of offline modes (although that’s since been remedied). Some players, like @poke_dimitri, criticized its inclusion here, comparing the game to a “fossil” after its support gets shut down.

Of course,Suicide Squadisn’t totally useless, but its appeal is clearly limited. Some players, like @TheAgentShadow, acknowledged that it has its positive aspects, as long as you’re a fan of the source material and are willing to overlook the technical issues.
Even so, with all its issues, it’s a bit of a shame to seeSuicide Squadtouted as the flagship free game for PS Plus this month. With the impending end to seasonal updates,KTJLjust feels like a throwaway, and it’s easy to see why so many players who spend so much hard-earned money on PS Plus are insulted.

Our Take: Are The Games Really That Bad?
This Month’s PS Plus Haul Is A Mixed Bag
As a whole, the January 2025 PS Plus games aren’t so bad.Suicide Squadclearly has its issues, and admittedly isn’t my cup of tea, but many players will undoubtedly find and come to enjoy it through its inclusion in the service. Now that there’s less pressure to spend money on its microtransactions or play online, it may have a little bit of a resurgence.
And really, there’s nothing wrong withHot Pursuit. It’s not the best of theNeed for Speedgames, and it’s got a few years behind it, but it’s a perfectly acceptable inclusion. There’s a nostalgia factor there for anyone who enjoyed the 2010 original, and including the remaster on PS Plus is an excellent way to bring new players into this long-running racing franchise.

You Should Be Excited For These Upcoming PS Plus Retro Titles
Meanwhile,The Stanley Parableis just an excellent game. Sure, it doesn’t have any of the big, triple-A panache of something likeSuicide Squad, but it’s a genuinely interesting walking simulator that takes players through any number of psychologically provocative situations. Included in PS Plus this month istheUltra Deluxeedition, which includes tons of new content. It’s worth checking out, even if you’ve already played the original.
So, while there are some bad games amid this month’s offerings, there are also some great ones, even if they aren’t to every player’s liking. The situation withSuicide Squadisn’t even as bad as many players have made it out to be, as it’ll still be playable even after updates end this month.
