Notion’s column feature is one of its most powerful yet underutilized features. It may not be immediately obvious how to set up columns in Notion but, once you know how, it’s a simple task.
How to Make Columns in Notion on a Tablet or PC
Whether you’re using Notion’s desktop or tablet app, or accessing Notion through yoursecure web browseron a PC, the process of creating columns is the same.
Start by navigating to the page where you would like to add columns; it could be a page with existing content or a whole new page. Either way, start a new line.

Type / to open up a list of basic blocks. Scroll down or type “column” to select the number of columns you need across the width of your page. You can create between two and five columns.
After selecting how many columns you’d like to make, drag blocks into your layout. To do this, move your cursor to the left-hand side of the relevant block until you see the six-dot icon.

Click this icon and drag the block into the relevant column, observing the blue guideline that appears. This guideline will give you an idea of where the block you’re moving will land.
If you don’t have existing content, you can navigate to the relevant column and create the block you require.

After rearranging your blocks into columns, you’re able to refine your column setup. Hover your mouse in between the columns to find the gray vertical guides.
Move this guide left or right to resize your columns as desired.

There you have it! Remember that columns are available on PC and tablet versions of Notion, but not on your smartphone. On your mobile phone, blocks in columns will appear vertically, in a single column.
How to Undo Columns in Notion
If you no longer want columns, reverting to a simple one-column layout is also easy. Hover your mouse over the left side of the block(s) in the column(s) you want to delete. Once you find the six-dot icon, drag the blocks over to the left side of the page, similar to how you dragged the blocks into the columns originally.
Continue dragging blocks from the right and releasing them on the left side of the page. As you remove elements from the columns, Notion automatically adjusts, decreasing the number of columns on the page.

If you’ve moved all the blocks and empty columns remain, hover your mouse and locate the six-dot icon. Click the icon to open a menu, and select Delete to remove the empty column completely.
