Stone Played One Of The Most Iconic Movie Villains Ever In Basic Instinct

Basic Instinct’s Catherine Tramell is one of the greatest villains in movie history

Stone was already a famous actor when she played femme fatale Catherine Tramell inthe 1992 erotic thrillerBasic Instinct, butBasic Instinctlaunched her to a whole new level of stardom. Catherine is a crime novelist who becomes the top suspect in the murder of a washed-up rock star who was killed with an icepick while having sex with a mysterious blonde woman.Basic Instinctwas a widely polarizing movie; it was described as everything from a trashy, schlocky B-movie to a transgressive, groundbreaking masterpiece.

One thing that both critics and audiences could agree on was that Stone gave a mesmerizing performance as Catherine. Stone manages the perfect balance to keep this character compelling from beginning to end. She’s charismatic and seductive, but she also exudes Catherine’s more sinister traits; she’s a cold-hearted psychopath with narcissistic tendencies. Stone is a magnetic screen presence inBasic Instinct, and audiences couldn’t keep their eyes off her. Stone’s turn as Catherine has set a high bar for her villain inNobody 2.

Sharon Stone Can Help Make Nobody 2 Even Better Than The First Movie

The first Nobody movie was great, but didn’t have a particularly memorable villain

With Stone as the villain,Nobody 2has the potential to be even better than the first movie. The firstNobodywas a fresh spin on the action genre with captivating action sequences and an incredible performance by Odenkirk, but it didn’t have a particularly memorable villain. Aleksei Serebryakov played the bad guy in the firstNobodyfilm, a Russian crime lord named Yulian Kuznetsov, who’s in charge of guarding the “obshchak,” or common treasury. He targets Hutch and his family throughout the movie and is characterized by being generically evil.

There was nothing that made Yulian stand out as a character; he was a one-note villain playing on all the clichés of a Russian mafia boss. He was just there to facilitate armies of goons coming after Hutch; he didn’t have a distinctive personality. With Stone playing the antagonist inNobody 2, the sequel has the potential for a much more memorable villain. Great action movie villains tend to make for great action movies.
