Quick Links
I write almost exclusively in Google Docs. Its syncing, editing, and collaborative features make it a no-brainer for most of my writing tasks. Pageless formatting makes the platform even more useful. Here are some of the ways I use the feature.
Pageless formatting removes page breaks from your document and makes it one single, endless page that resembles a webpage rather than a print document. To switch from the Pages to the Pageless layout, selectFormatfrom the top menu and chooseSwitch to Pageless format.

1Planning My Day
One of my favorite uses for Google Docs’ pageless mode is making a to-do list/daily planner. While you canmake a daily planner in Google Sheets, I find that Google Docs offers more freedom and allows you to think outside of rows and columns. Entries can be as long and detailed as needed without page breaks to worry about.
It’s easy to make a daily planner in Google Docs. Here’s how I do it:

You can even create an overarching document for the month/year and link each daily plan you create. This will make them easier to manage and review.
2Writing Journal Entries
If you don’t already use adedicated journal app, you should try journaling in Google Docs. Your journal entries will be on all your devices connected to a Google account and will be readable and editable offline.
Throw pageless formatting into the mix, and you get a blank, white canvas where you can express your thoughts, scribble inspiration, or do some free-flow writing. There are no limits or page breaks to hold you back.
Aside from the page breaks, there are some otherdifferences between the Pageless and the Pages formats. It’s worth checking them out to understand all the details.
3Drafting Posts and Stories
Google Docs is my main writing app for writing posts and other content. I wrote this in Google Docs. I get to see how my posts will look when published on the web, and the text flows together well without breaking up.
If you arecollaborating with a group of people, there is sufficient room for everyone’s suggestions to be incorporated without anything being lost in the process.
You can alsodraft short stories, poems, andemails in Google Docs.
4Inserting Large Images and Tables
With pageless formatting on, I can create wide tables and insert images that are larger than normal since they expand to fill up the screen. I can use pictures that match the idea expressed in the text without having to resize or crop them to fit the page. This makes my workflow more streamlined and saves a lot of time.
The paginated mode restricts how much space tables can occupy and how they are presented. Pageless mode frees tables to take up as much space as needed and even lets you scroll horizontally across the columns.
Pageless formatting, as good as it sounds, isn’t applicable in every situation. If you need to print the document or otherwise require a precise page layout, you should stick with the Pages format. You can switch back to the default format by going to theFormatmenu and selectingSwitch to Pages format.
