Similar titles, such asOverwatchandCall of Dutyreset ranks at the start of each season, and during Season 0 going into Season 1,Rivalsfollowed suit with that format. Now, the developers state that ranks will reset halfway through each season, and again at the start of each new season moving forward.
In the most recent developer diary,NetEasestates,
“Going forward, players can expect to kick off the start of each new Season with a drop of six divisions and the start of the second half of each new Season with a drop of four divisions. We will tune this as necessary! Thank you for your passionate support and stay tuned on our official channels for the latest news about the second half of Season 1!”
While they do state they will tune this new feature if it becomes an issue for fans,players are wondering why they made this decision in the first place, and arequite upsetabout this revelation.

It is worth noting here that ranks will not decrease by seven ranks as they did during the change from Season 0 to Season 1 halfway through each season.The “Half Season Rank Reset” will drop players' ranks by four divisions, while the reset at the start of each season will drop players' ranks by six divisions.This means that those who reach Diamond I by the “Half Season Rank Reset” will be dropped down to Platinum II.
