A New Way To Play And A New Stage

Aside from Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice, both of whom are easily the biggest draw for returningMultiVersusplayers,Season 2 is also adding a new way to play the game: Ranked Mode. This mode allows players to battle it out in 1 v 1 and 2 v 2 fights to earn points and stake their claim on the global leaderboard. Doing so will unlock exclusive cosmetics based on the achieved rank, sothose who manage to climb higherwill be granted better rewards.

Additionally, there’s also a new stage: The Warner Bros. Water Tower. What’s become an iconic Hollywood landmark will soon play host toMultiVersus' crossover battles as playersjump and fly across the various levelsof the titular structure. Based on a small hint in the Season 2 trailer’s final image, some fans are taking the WB Water Tower as a sign that the beloved Animaniacs will soon joinMultiVersusbut this has yet to be confirmed by Player First Games.

MultiVersusmay be adding plenty of popular characters to its roster butthe question remains on whether that will be enough to salvage the game’s reputation amongst the platform fighter community. In 2022, many labeled it as a potentialSuper Smash Bros.alternative but its lengthy hiatus andfrustrating monetization have resulted in a steep decline in interest. Whether Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice are enough to impress players remains to be seen.
