Summary

After launching to stardom inThe Mandalorian,Pedro Pascalis now getting his ownStar Warsmovie withThe Mandalorian & Grogu- but his sudden skyrocket into fame has unwittingly created one big problem that the franchise has to fix. Pascal portraysThe Mandalorian’s titular character,Din Djarin, with the help of actors and stuntmen such as Brendan Wayne, Lateef Crowder, and Barry Lowin. Pascal has been an actor for many years, but following his role inThe Mandalorian, he has since been launched into a whole new stratosphere of Hollywood fame - rightfully so.

It’s no secret that Pascal mostly lends his voice to Din Djarin inThe Mandalorian, given both his own physical limitations and his busy schedule, the latter of which has everything to do with his well-deserved rise in fame. As a big Pascal fan who’s been actively following his career ever sinceThe Mandalorianseason 1, I couldn’t be prouder of the fact that he continues to get major role after major role, but I also unfortunately see a problem that has since arisen. This is something thatStar Warswill have to fix beforeThe Mandalorian & Grogu.

Everything We Know About The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie

The Mandalorian’s story will continue with a Star Wars movie. Here’s everything we know about the project, including cast, release, and timeline.

Star Wars Can’t Afford To Lose Pedro Pascal

He’s The Heart & Soul Of Din Djarin’s Character

It’s important to state the obvious first: the last thingStar Warsneeds is to lose Pascal in any capacity. This is why us fans have been more than okay with acknowledging that the role is mostly a voiceover for him as of late;we would rather have some of him and his incredible talent than none of him. This, of course, doesn’t discredit what the other actors in the suit bring to the role of Din Djarin, but there’s no doubt that Pascal is the heart of the character, and Din wouldn’t be the same without him.

Pascal is the heart of the character, and Din wouldn’t be the same without him.

This has already been evidenced byStar Wars’latest addition to theStar Tours - The Adventures Continueattraction at Disney Parks. While Wayne did get to return in the suit for this short segment, the voice is so obviously not Pascal, and for those who love the character, it really does take away from the experience. It would be more than just losing a big name if Pascal were to walk away. The entire heart of Din Djarin’s character would be leaving right along with him.

But Star Wars Is Being Too Lenient With Him

Pascal’s Schedule Prevents Him From Doing More

This is where I have seen an unfortunate problem.Star Warswill clearly do whatever it takes to keep Pascal in this role, which includes giving him a leniency that, as far as I’ve seen, no other majorStar Warsactor has gotten. The nature of his character certainly helps in the respect that Pascal’s face doesn’t have to be seen virtually at all aside from rare story moments, but viewers aren’t getting nearly enough of that, either. I may be wrong, butthe impression being given is that Pascal’s other projects are dictating much of what goes on.

Pascal has also been almost entirely absent fromStar Warsfan spaces due to his schedule. Aside from two Star Wars Celebrations and two D23 Expos,Pascal has yet to be a part ofThe Mandalorian’s promotion at comic cons and fan conventions. While mostStar Warsactors, even the biggest names, often make appearances, Pascal hasn’t. It’s true thatThe Mandalorianseasons 1 and 2 arrived during an unprecedented time when these events were essentially non-existent thanks to the pandemic, but this trend has continued even well after that. As a fan, this is really hard to accept.

Will Pedro Pascal Be In The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie? Here’s Everything We Know About His Star Wars Role

Star Wars has announced their new The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, starring Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin. Here’s everything we know about Pascal’s role.

The Mandalorian & Din Djarin Need More From Pascal

He’s The Key To This Story & This Character’s Success

Pascal’s other roles prove that he gives his all with each performance, and while Din Djarin inThe Mandalorianis certainly no exception, there’s still more that this character needs from him. Fans were quick to notice thatThe Mandalorianseason 3 lacked a single moment where Pascal’s face was seen in the suit, and likely any scene at all where he was under the helmet. Because they love his performance so much,it’s easy for them to notice when he’s not there, and this disappointment is somethingStar Warscannot afford to continue with the upcoming movie.

This doesn’t mean Pascal doesn’t care about this character or this role; in fact, it’s quite the opposite. One of my favorite interview moments Pascal has done forThe Mandalorianis post-season 3, when he confesses that he fought to take out a Din Djarin face reveal scene in season 2 because he doesn’t believe such an important scene should be betrayed to some “human need to be seen.“Pascal cares so deeply about how this story is told, and likely believes that he can’t physically give what the others can, but this isn’t true. Fans want more, not less.

The Mandalorian Movie Has A Chance To Fix This

The Mandalorian & Grogucertainly has a chance to fix this, but it yet again all comes down to Pascal’s schedule. Production on the movie has either already begun or will begin soon, and by the end of the month, Pascal will be almost entirely unavailable due to filming for the MCU’sThe Fantastic 4. Thankfully, there are more than enough close threads betweenStar Warsand the MCU that could potentially facilitate a trade-off for the actor, given both director Jon Favreau’s own MCU past and the franchises being under the same Disney umbrella.

I really want The Mandalorian & Grogu to succeed, and I believe Pascal is the golden key to making that happen.

I’m admittedly unfamiliar with how every tiny detail works for movie production. However, given the reassurance I received personally from Wayne himself about the possibility of making Pascal’s schedule work with filming, I’m confident it can be done.Star Warssimply needs to take the risky step of asking for a bit more from Pascal, not so much forbidding him from taking jobs as much as heightening the requirements of what he must do asThe Mandalorian’s shining star.

My worries and frustrations about Pascal’s involvement inThe Mandalorianand the greaterStar Warsfandom would never come from a bad or even accusatory place; I simply adore what he does. I have long since been rooting for his success, especially knowing how hard he’s worked to earn it, but as such a passionateStar Wars,The Mandalorian, and Din Djarin fan, it’s hard to see such a lack of him in this community. I really wantThe Mandalorian & Groguto succeed, and I believe Pascal is the golden key to making that happen.
