I have been a fan of the hilarious sitcomThe Big Bang Theorysince the first season aired in 2007. As an audience member, I find it very easy tobecome invested in the love stories the comedy series focuses on.There was the classic will-they-won’t-they with Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Dr. Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki). There was also the slow burn friends-to-lovers between the show’s most quirky couple, Dr. Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik).
The Big Bang Theoryendinghonored these relationships in satisfying ways. However, this approach didn’t extend to all theBig Bang Theorycharacters. Through much of the series, Rajesh Kuthrapoli (Kunal Nayyar) had an interesting love life as the hopeless romantic type. Yet, the seriesfailed to wrap up Raj’s love story in the way that it should have.

Raj Goes Through Over 10 Relationships And Flings Throughout The Big Bang Theory
Not One Of Them Could Have Lasted?
Raj is the only one who hasexperienced several relationships throughoutThe Big Bang Theoryand does not find lasting love by the finale.Several of his girlfriends even lasted for multiple episodes. His longest relationship was with Emily Sweeney (Laura Spencer), and they were officially together during the seventh and ninth seasons.The Big Bang Theorydid have to write her off because of the actress' scheduling conflicts, so it is understandable why the relationship did not last. However, as an audience member, I find it unfair that none ofRaj’sBig Bang Theoryrelationshipscould last.
Some of Raj’s longest-lasting girlfriends inThe Big Bang Theoryinclude Claire (Alessandra Torresani), Lucy (Kate Micucci), and Anu (Rati Gupta).
Notevery romantic relationship Raj had inThe Big Bang Theorywas considered healthy. For instance, one of his girlfriends was with him because of his family’s wealth. However, several of his romances did have lasting potential. Even ifnone of the actresses playing his lovers were available to do more episodes ofThe Big Bang Theory, the writers could have easily written a new one.She could have been an off-screen character if they could not find anyone to play her. With that in mind, there were several opportunities for Raj to find love by the last episode, but they weren’t take advantage of.
Raj Is One Of The Big Bang Theory’s Nicest Characters
He Is Worthy Of Finding Love
Raj is always going out of his way to help his friends and loved ones throughoutThe Big Bang Theory. AlthoughRaj was the third wheelsometimes in those moments when he helped out his friends, his kind character still shone through.He helps Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) prepare for the births of their children, lets Stuart (Kevin Sussman) live with him, and helps Amy with her makeover.Yet, he never finds someone inThe Big Bang Theoryto love him back romantically.
With all this overthinking, though, he is just trying to show he cares. The writers ofThe Big Bang Theoryshould have at least given him character development to prevent him from overthinking all the time so he could find lasting love.
Raj’s kindness does not end with his friends inThe Big Bang Theory. He alwaystries to treat his girlfriends in the best way that he can.As a viewer of the show, I can concur that sometimesRaj’sBig Bang Theoryromances highlighted his biggest character flaw: his constant overthinking. With all this overthinking, though, he is just trying to show he cares. The writers ofThe Big Bang Theoryshould have at least given him character development to prevent him from overthinking all the time so he could find lasting love.

She Does Stand In As A Great Celebrity Cameo At Least
Due to the show’s tendency to offer celebrity cameos, perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising that one was used to end Raj’s story.However, when re-watchingThe Big Bang Theoryseries finale recently,Sarah Michelle Gellar’s cameo as Raj’s date was not the best decision for his character.Since she’s married,Raj is still single at the end ofThe Big Bang Theory.
Other celebrity cameos onThe Big Bang Theoryinclude Stan Lee, Bob Newhart, LeVar Burton, Steve Wozniak, Bill Nye, and Elon Musk.
I understand thatThe Big Bang Theorywriters must have wanted him to at least have a date for The Nobel Prize Awards. However, a celebrity guestwho is a married woman is not the best option for this situation.Gellar does tell Raj that her being there with him is not a date, even though Raj definitely treats her like a date. Gellar being on the show was a fun twist when Raj and Howard spotted her on the airplane with them on their way to Sweden. This dynamic is not lasting love, which is what Raj deserves.
The Big Bang Theoryending after season 12was not the best thing for Raj’s love life. The series finale was arguably one of the best in sitcom history. Unfortunately, though, nothing is ever perfect. Ultimately,The Big Bang Theoryfinale’s fatal flaw is that Raj can not find lasting love by the end. His character is far from perfect,but he deserves to be loved just as much as the other characters are.At least he still had the platonic love of his closest friends all throughout the series.
