Warning: Major spoilers for the fourth and fifth books inThe Wheel of Timeseries
Summary
Based on the trajectory ofThe Wheel of Time’sstory, two characters are on track for a team-up, and it’s one I can’t wait to see. The False Dragon known as Logain Ablar has benefited considerably from an elevated role in Prime Video’s adaptation ofRobert Jordan’sWheel of Timebooks. His presence in the narrative is much greater than it was at this point in the source material, which has paved the way for some great moments, including a fun training scene with Rand.
As it stands, there are no official details on what we should expect from Logain inThe Wheel of Timeseason 3. However, it is known that the next story to be featured on the small screen isThe Shadow Rising, the fourth book in Jordan’s series. Of course, the TV show can change Logain’s part in it - as it has with other characters in prior book adaptations - but I’m confident that won’t happen. A key development in season 2 assured me of that. Logain is in a position to gain an unlikely ally, and it’s a team-up I believe will be one ofThe Wheel of Time’sbest.

Why I Expect Logain To Team Up With Siuan Sanche In The Wheel Of Time Season 3
One of the biggest plot points inThe Shadow Risingis Siuan Sanche’s removal from power in Tar Valon. After her role in Moiraine Damodred’s secret search for Rand al’Thor became apparent, Siuan faced increased scrutiny from her fellow Aes Sedai, specifically Elaida. In response,Elaida led an Aes Sedai coupand had Siuan deposed and stilled. This culminated in Siuan being locked away. After breaking free of her cell with the help of Min Farshaw, Siaun crossed paths with Logain, who had also escaped from the Aes Sedai. This encounter set up Logain and Siuan to share an adventurein the following book,The Fires of Heaven.
Elaida hasn’t appeared inThe Wheel of TimeTV show yet, but her debut is reportedly slated for season 3.

Althoughseveral stories from theWheel of Timebookshaven’t made it into the series, I have every expectation that this arc will indeed be told in the TV show. After all, the setup for it is already building. Logain being in Cairhien with Rand was a departure from the novels, but that turned out to be only a temporary shift away from the source material. When Siuan arrived in Cairhein, she ordered Logain to be sent back to Tar Valon, thus laying the groundwork for him to be exactly where he needs to be for his story inThe Shadow Risingto kick into action.
As for Siuan, she too is inching toward that twist inThe Shadow Rising. InThe Wheel of Timeseason 2’s penultimate episode, she brought the Aes Sedai to Cairhien and failed to stop Rand from leaving. This, combined with him being proclaimed the Dragon Reborn at Falme, is sure to lead to some understandable questions about what they were doing there in Cairhien and how much Siuan knew about Rand beforehand. Because it was her secrecy surrounding Rand that proved to be her undoing in the books, these concerns are likely to serve as setup for Siuan to lose her position as Amylrin Seat, as well as her connection to the True Source.

Theoretically,Wheel of Timecould hold off Siuan’s downfall and her team-up with Logain until the end of the season (since it happened inThe Shadow Rising’sfinal chapters), but I suspect it will happen earlier than that. The pace in which it’s currently following supports that notion, as the cracks in Siuan’s power already started to form when she was defeated by Lanfear. Not that much has to occur for Siuan and Logain to team up, sothis storyline could begin as early as the season’s halfway mark.
Why Logain & Siuan Make For A Great Character Duo In The Wheel of Time
Logain And Siuan Would Be Natural Enemies If They Weren’t Both At Odds With The White Tower
One reason why I’m convinced Logian-Siuan is happening is the opportunities it presents. I can’t think of any reason why the show wouldn’t use this story;their conflicting viewpoints and history with each other offer the show so much to work with in terms of dramatic moments and tension. Logain has good reasons for despising Siuan, who is behind the organization that gentled him. Siuan was opposed to the steps they took to strip away his link to theWheel of Time’sOne Power, but Logain isn’t aware of this. Even if he did know, it may not matter much, as she’s still the face of the Aes Sedai. Not only that, but it was on Siuan’s orders that he was locked away, unable to end his own life.
It will interesting to see how the two interact in light of their respective hardships.I can imagine Logain taking delight in Siuan’s misery and contemplating killing her at the same time. Siuan’s attitude toward Logain will be similarly entertaining. For so long, she’s been accustomed to being the most powerful person in Tar Valon. Being deposed (plus dealing with Logain’s gloating) will expose a new, vulnerable side of the character that should lend itself well to Sophie Okonedo’s performance. Having her team up with Logain, someone she condemned to a life of captivity, is just a perfect recipe for drama and storytelling.
What Logain & Siuan’s Story Could Be About
Logain And Siuan Could Kickstart An Aes Sedai Rebellion
As for howThe Wheel of Timewill make use of the two together, I think the route it takes could be a combination ofThe Fires of Heavenand scenes original to the show. I won’t be surprised if the series takes advantage of this pairing early, and has them interact from their cells before they leave the White Tower. This wasn’t in the books, but such a move would be consistent with its efforts to increase Logain’s presence in the narrative. This would provide Logain with some meaningful scenes ahead of his reluctant alliance with Siuan.
In regards to what could come for the two characters when they inevitably flee the White Tower,The Fires of Heavensaw them travel to Salidar alongside Leane Sharif and Min Farshaw. With both on hand in the series, there’s a strong likelihood thatThe Wheel of Timewill eventually recreate this character group or introduce a facsimile of it. If the show follows the books, their ultimate goal will be to gain support from Aes Sedai who disagree with Elaida and make a stand against her. This constitutes an important step in Jordan’s narrative, as it helps set upEgwene al’Vere becoming the Amylrin Seat.
