Summary

Harley Quinn’snew costume is so incredible that I might have to take a break from cosplaying as Wonder Woman and give the Gotham Siren a shot. Over the years, Harley has had plenty of major costume changes, but none have caught my eye enough to make me want to invest significant time, effort, and money into crafting a costume—until now.

On October 23,Harley Quinn#44 will usher in a new era for the Gotham City Siren with a fresh creative team and a new costume. While I will miss Tini Howard and Sweeney Boo’s multiverse adventures, the new team of Elliott Kalan and Mindy Lee promises to bring the Clown Queen of Crime back to her roots–something I have been waiting a long time for.

The big wigs here at DC want me to be a bit clearer in these snooze-licit texts so here goes nuttin'. Begin the prewritten statement! Ahem. When Harley Quinn discovers her favorite dangerous neighborhood in Gotham City, Throatcut Hill, has been gentrified beyond recognition, she breaks bad and sets out on a one clown-woman mission to make Gotham City safe for crime again! Wow! I couldn’t have said it better myself, and luckily, I won’t have to, thanks to the excellent work of my new creative team, Elliott Kalan (The Flop House, Mystery Science Theater 3000) and Mindy Lee (Bounty, Harley Quinn: Everybody Hates Side Quests).

Sorry, Wonder Woman, But I’m Ready For My Harley Quinn Cosplay Era to Begin

Harley Quinn’s new costume is everything I could have hoped for. It’s a clear nod toher original design fromBatman: The Animated Serieswhile also offering something completely new.My favorite feature is the oversized black and red trench coat, which adds a mischievous flairthat perfectly complements Harley’s personality. The coat has a wildly fun aura, and from the moment I saw it, I was head over heels in love. Replicating it will undoubtedly be a challenge, but that’s part of the fun of cosplay.

The other elements of Harley Quinn’s costume are equally impressive.I’m particularly obsessed with her fingerless black spandex gloves, which pair perfectly with the coat. The thigh-high boots are also something I can’t wait to get my hands on—being a shoe enthusiast, they’re a personal favorite of mine. But the real showstopper is Harley’s partially translucent black and red Teddy bodysuit, which evokes memories of one of her tops fromtheBirds of Prey(2020) movie. Overall, this look is a solid 10/10, and I’m excited to replicate it.

Harley’s Signature Mallet Is a MUST-Have for My Costume

I’m truly thankful for Sarah Baslaim’s variant cover, which reminded me of a crucial accessory I need for my cosplay—Harley Quinn’s mallet. Not only does this iconic weapon complete the costume, but it’s also irresistible in its fun and quirky design. Just like the coat, the mallet perfectly embodies Harley’s unique personality. However, since I’ve never crafted a weapon as distinctive or large as the mallet, I’ll need to seek advice from cosplay communities on how to make it. There’s still a lot to do before myHarley Quinncosplay is ready, but I’m excited about the journey ahead.

Harley Quinn #44will be released on August 11, 2025, from DC Comics!
