Mark Harmon as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in NCIS

The reason for Freaky Friday is because of stuff like this. During the Halloween press junkets all around the world, we would do Halloween questions and then every single interview, they’d go, “So what’s up with you and Lindsay? Are you going to get back?” Because of that real interest around the world, when I got back home, I called Bob Iger. I said, ‘Bob, I’m telling you, people want it.’ That’s how it began. That was about a year and a half ago, and we have been shooting now for two months. It’s awesome. It’s different and beautiful and fun and funny. It hits every note. It’s going to be amazing. I can’t actually talk about it very much… last night I was 15 in downtown LA, jumping a 1969 Camaro. Literally last night, at the end of the day as the sun set in downtown Los Angeles, I was jumping a 69 Camaro as a 15-year-old… it’s awesome and it’s going to be great. It’ll be out next year. And if you’re coming to D 23, we have some announcements happening at D 23. Maybe, or maybe not. We’ll see.

Why Now Is The Perfect Time For Freaky Friday 2

The Sequel Can Benefit From The Two Decades Since The Original.

Freaky Friday 2can be sentimental, but it can also be more than early 2000s nostalgia and will be entertaining in its own right.

Curtis' experiences prove the widespread and enduringinterest inFreaky Friday 2bodes well for the sequel. More than two decades after the original,Curtis, Lohan, and the rest of the cast are naturally at different points in their lives and their careers, giving them new perspectives and life experiences that they can bring to their roles. This is perfect for a story that deals with frustrations and desires related to one’s age and can allow the returning actors to bring new dimensions to their established characters.

Freakier Friday - Poster

Chad Michael Murray was pictured on set with a motorcycle, the same vehicle his character rode in the previous movie.

The time that has passed also allowsFreaky Friday 2to be a story that extends to more generations. Anna Coleman (Lohan) now has a daughter and soon-to-be stepdaughter of her own in the new movie, and with Anna’s mother Tess Coleman (Curtis) involved as well, the body-switching phenomenon can now impact three different generations of women. Fora story meant to appeal to the generations that watched the 2003Freaky Fridayand generations that have come since, this is a fitting approach for the sequel.

Freaky Friday 2 Makes Me Feel A Little Better About Mark Harmon Not Returning To NCIS

Freaky Friday 2 lets Mark Harmon revisit his old character, Ryan, after playing limited roles outside of Gibbs in NCIS for the past two decades.

The inclusion of new characters, including Anna’s children andStar Wars: The Acolytestar Jacinto, helps ensure that the sequel will not just rely on the existing characters and story.Freaky Friday 2can be sentimental, but it can alsobe more than early 2000s nostalgia and will be entertaining in its own right. Curtis' enthusiasm for making the sequel happen and as she helps bring it to life, are promising signs that it will meet the high expectations surrounding it and be one ofDisney’s most exciting 2025 theatrical releases.
