What Is a Proxy Server?
Aproxy serveris a server that acts as an intermediary between a client and another server. A client connects to the proxy server and asks it to make a request on its behalf. For instance, someone in the US can use a proxy server from Germany to browse a website, and the website will see the German server’s IP instead of the user’s.
In a similar vein, proxy servers can skirt around regional blocks. If a website only allows people with German-based IP addresses to connect to it, people can use a German-based proxy server to “trick” it into letting them in.
