Quickly Turn off the Camera and Microphone
The headlining feature of the second-generation model is a new privacy cover. To quickly and easily turn off both the microphone and camera, swivel the shutter over the camera lens.
To activate both again, just swivel the shutter away from the lens.
That additional feature helps make the Indoor Cam a better choice for anyone who wants to keep track of what’s going on when they are away from home but want to protect their privacy when at home.
If you’re still interested in the camera, but don’t care about the cover, that can easily be removed.
Along with the privacy cover, you can use the Ring app to black out off-limit areas in the camera’s view. You can alsoenable end-to-end encryptionon the Indoor Cam.
The powered 1080p camera features color night vision and two-way talk. It has a 143-degree horizontal field of view.
And since Ring is an Amazon company, the camera can easily tie in with Alexa and other Ring products. Anyone with an Echo with a touchscreen can easily see a camera view with just a voice command.
You can pre-order the second-generation Ring Indoor Camnow for $59.99. Orders will begin to ship on May 24, 2023. Buyers can choose from a white or black version of the camera.
Works With the SOS for Cameras Feature
The second-generation Indoor Cam is also compatible with the newSOS for Camerasfeature.

Available in the Ring app, you’ll be able to tap an SOS button and slide one of the emergency request sliders. Doing that will signal a monitoring center and request dispatch of local authorities to the device location.
This can be used to call the authorities, for example, when a fire is seen at your home or if there is an intruder.
