How to factory reset your Samsung Galaxy phone
Resetting your phone isn’t something you’ll need to do often, but sometimes doing so is necessary, whether a software update has caused bugs, or it’s time to upgrade andtrade in your current device. The process of backing up your data and resetting a phone varies slightly depending on the manufacturer, so let’s look at how to do it on a Samsung Galaxy device.
The screenshots in this article are from aGalaxy S22 Ultrarunning One UI 4.1, but the process should be about the same on older Galaxy devices going back to One UI 1.0.

Backing up your data
If you’re resetting your phone to resolve a software issue, or you’re upgrading to another Samsung phone, I recommend using Samsung Cloud to back up your phone.
When you’re setting up your phone after the reset, you’ll be prompted to restore the backup you’ve just made, and once it’s been restored, everything will be how you left it.

If you’re switching to another brand of Android phone, you’ll want to use Google Drive to back up your data. It’s not as thorough as Samsung Cloud, which even restores paired Bluetooth devices, but it’s an option if you’re moving away from Samsung.
As with Samsung Cloud, you’ll be prompted to restore this back up when you’re setting up your new phone.

Resetting your Galaxy device
Once you’re ready to proceed, the process for resetting your device is simple.
Your phone will now reset and reboot, and when it’s finished, it’ll be like new. Now you’re free to set it back up again or sell it on to someone new.
