Google’s flagship browser has a Chrome Actions feature that enables its users to trigger browser actions by entering certain commands in the URL bar. Those action commands provide handy shortcuts for utilizing tools and changing options in Chrome.

You can utilize similar features in Mozilla Firefox and Edge. However, the command features in those browsers are hidden ones that aren’t automatically enabled by default. This is how you can enable action commands in Edge and Firefox.

How to Enable Firefox’s Built-in Quick Actions Feature

Firefox has a Quick Actions feature you’ll need to turn on from that browser’sAdvanced Preferences(about:config) tab. That Quick Actions feature provides users with 14 handy Firefox commands. You can turn on that feature with the following steps:

How to Enable Edge’s Command Palette

Microsoft Edge version 105 incorporates a Command Palette. Command Palette is not available in Edge version 104 or any versions below. The feature enables users to activate developer and productivity commands with a command box.

It’s currently an experimental feature within Microsoft Edge users need to enable via that browser’sExperimentstab. Then you may activate and utilize the Command Palette in Edge 105 as follows:

You can view a full list of developer tool commands by entering>in the text box. Select a listed command to activate by pressing the down/up arrow keys andEnter. Or click a listed action with your mouse instead.

The Command Palette has some handy window, bookmark, and tab commands. For example, inputbookmarkin the keyword text box. Then the Command Palette will list these bookmark actions for you to select:

There you have four bookmark actions at your fingertips. If you want to save a webpage, selectBookmark this page. Or selectBookmark all tabstoadd all open pages to your favorites. To view your saved favorites, clickShow bookmark manager.

Thetabkeyword is also a good one to enter into the Command Palette. Entering that keyword will display nine suggested tab actions. Then you can select commands for creating, searching, moving, and reopening page tabs.
