According toSpotify’s earnings reportto investors, the streaming service had 433 million monthly active users. The streaming giant added 10 million subscribers during the second quarter of 2022. However, not every user is a paying subscriber since, unlike Apple Music, Spotify has a free, ad-supported tier.
Of the 433 million users, only 188 million have aSpotify subscription. That’s less than half the total, but it’s not surprising since not everyone can afford to add yet another subscription to their monthly expenses in the current age of ballooning subscriptions. The same report also highlights that the number of ad-supported users on the platform stood at 256 million. During the quarter, the company added 6 million net paying subscribers, slightly larger than the 4 million users on the free tier.
