InGreen Lantern#13,anAbsolute Powertie-in by Jeremy Adams and Fernando Pasarin, Amanda Waller’s Amazo’s are sucking the powers out of all the superheroes. As the Justice Society fights back against the Amazos, it’s clear the heroes are fighting a losing battle, and Green Lantern Alan Scott can feel his own power draining out of his body as it funnels into its new robotic host.

Then, Green Lantern suddenly drains that very power back into his body from the Amazo through willpower alone. This display of incredible willpower — taking back the power that was stolen from him through sheer force — shows thatAlan Scott might just be the strongest Green Lantern in history, especially considering how quickly these Amazos took out the Superman Family.

The First Green Lantern Officially Has More Willpower Than Superman
Alan Scott Is Truly One-of-a-Kind
Technically, Alan Scott has been around since the 1940s, so if anyone should have the willpower by now, it’s him. Whilehe’s the original Green Lantern, his power stems from magic, while the other Lanterns use rings fused with cosmic willpower. This divide always left Alan Scott slightly ostracized fromthe Green Lantern Corps, though now it seemsthe Corps itself might be retired. But after this one-on-one face-off against Waller’s Amazo, there’s no question about Alan’s willpower. To take back his own power means he’s the strongest there is, because no one else could do the same.
Fans of Alan Scott — new and old — should check out the miniseriesAlan Scott: The Green Lanternby Tim Sheridan and Cian Tormey, available now in single issues from DC Comics. The collected edition is available September 24th, 2024.

Practically every superhero succumbed to the Amazos with very few exceptions. For Green Lanterns, the willpower was sucked right out of the rings, but for Alan Scott, whose power resides within his very body, it’s not so easily taken away. Since these robots are connected via a hive mind, the surprise that the Amazo shows reveals that this is a standalone event around the world. It sounds easy to say that he simply willed his powers back, but whenevery other hero in the DC Universe, including Superman, couldn’t take their powers back, Alan isn’t just displaying willpower - he’s revealing real power.
