Ghostsseason 4 will make up for a frustrating element of season 3. The American version of the BritishGhostsseries launched in 2021 and has had a successful run on CBS. However,Ghostsseason 3 was shortened due to the strikes that truncated most network television in 2023. In an interview withTV Line,showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman revealed whatmissing characters will return inGhostsseason 4. Neighbors to Rose McIver’s Sam and Utkarsh Ambudkar’s Jay,Henry and Margaret Farnsby didn’t feature inGhostsseason 3but will return for the next installment.Ghostsseason 4 will also see the return of Bjorn, a ghost living in the Farnsby home. Bjorn appeared in two episodes of season 2 after Sam found him living just a few doors away. Sam discovered that Bjorn was Thor’s son, making his presence promising for Thor’s narrative.

The Farnsbys had a significant role in Sam and Jay’s lives at the onset of ghosts.The Woodstone neighbors debuted at the beginning ofGhostsseason 1, appearing friendly initially but ultimately announcing that they disapproved of Sam and Jay opening a bed and breakfast and vowing to stop it. They appeared at the end of the series to follow through with their threat, opening up a rival B&B that aimed to put Sam and Jay out of business. After Sam and Jay succeeded at the end of season 1, the Farnsbys played an exotically different role.
The Farnsbys & Bjorn’s Absence Was Notable In Ghosts Season 3
Christian Jadah’s Bjorn Character Was Needed To Support Thor
The Farnsbys and Bjorn were surely missed inGhostsseason 3. While the series packed a lot in despite its shortened run, it left out Sam and Jay’s neighbors, andWoodstone felt isolated without the neighbors dropping by. While the neighbors also had a reserved presence in season 2, the storyline was otherwise packed, and seeing them once and then seeing Bjorn again from their home was enough to create a connection to the characters in season 2. Moreover, season 3 didn’t follow up on a bizarre Farnsby family plot from season 2. Bjorn’s absence was also sorely missed.
Bjorn went to the area to find his father and died on what’s now Henry and Margaret Farnby’s property. He can communicate with his father by yelling out the upstairs window.
Bjorn is the son of Devan Chandler Long’s Thor character, and Thor went through quite a transition in season 3. Thor was processingwhat happened to Flower inGhostsseason 3, believing that the woman he had just started dating had been"sucked off,“and then thinking that she had reincarnated as an owl. While Sheila Carrasco’s Flower was ultimately trapped in a well and returned to the cohort near the end of season 3,Thor was processing the loss of his girlfriend, which would have been a richer storyline if the character had shared the experience with his son.

Bringing back the entire Farnsbys cohort (living and non-living) is an exciting development forGhostsseason 4. WhileBjorn, a fellow Viking character, would have been the perfect feature forGhostsseason 3, this makes his confirmed status in season 4 all the more exciting. Now that Thor is starting a relationship with Flower, he can share the good news with his son, to whom he didn’t have much to say in season 2. While it was good for him to see his son, abothersome Thor traitheld the character back when communicating.

The Farnsbys' return to season 4 also promises exotic and awkward developments for Sam and Jay inGhostsseason 4.Not featuring Henry and Margaret in season 3 meant it didn’t follow up on a significant Farnsby revealfrom season 2: the Farnsbys were swingers, excited that Sam and Jay might participate in one of their sex parties. There was plenty of material to explore inGhostsseason 3, like Isaac’s wedding or Hetty’s death. Therefore, having Henry and Margaret in season 4 meansGhostcan finally show how they interact with Sam and Jay following their strange encounter.
