Disney Lorcanais doing a fun promotion to celebrate the release of the upcomingMoana 2film. Fans who pop over to their local cinema and watch the film will get a freeMoanaDisney Lorcana card. She’s a fan-favorite character, for sure, so it makes sense to have this tie-in, especially considering a brand-new Lorcana set has just been released. However, while getting a freeMoanacard is always nice, it’s not the real reason I’m so excited.
Now that I’ve settled nicely into thebest Azurite Seas Starter deck, I’m naturally happy to start adding to my collection with the latest Lorcana cards. Popping this newMoanapromo card into my collection will be fun, as will seeingMoana 2. However, this promo card means a lot more to me than simply bolstering my collection. It hopefully signals the return of a glorious cinema era, one that I loved thoroughly as a child and hope future generations similarly get to enjoy.

Disney Lorcana Fans Can Get A Free Moana Promo Card
Only In ODEON And HOYTS Theaters
For those in Europe or in Australia and New Zealand,Disney Lorcanais running a promotion to tie in with the newMoana 2film. If fans book tickets to seeMoana 2at an ODEON cinema in participating regions in Europe, or HOYTS cinemas in New Zealand and Australia, they’ll receive a “Moana – Adventurer of Land and Sea” promo card completely for free. While it’s not thebest Disney Lorcana card,it’s a fun reward for seeing the movie in the cinema rather than waiting for it to pop up on Disney+.
The participating regions in Europe include the UK, Ireland, Portugal, Germany, Spain, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Switzerland. Additionally, it is worth noting that this promotion still applies to those with an ODEON myLimitless membership, which allows them to see an unlimited amount of films for a monthly fee. However, the promo card will only be available while stocks last, although a standard edition of the card will appear in a future set.

As a big Lorcana fan and someone who adored the firstMoanafilm, it’s a lot of fun to see this cross-promotion. There’s something incredibly novel and exciting about seeing a film at the cinema and then getting a tangible item related to that film. Of course, the various popcorn buckets or cups in the shape of a superhero’s head or a giant sandworm’s mouth serve that purpose, and, admittedly, they are a lot of fun. I even have a popcorn bucket in the shape of Indiana Jones' hat that I still find hilarious every time I use it.
However, as someone who grew up during the TCG boom of the early 2000s, getting a card tied directly to the movie was always more fun. It’s great to see Disney Lorcana appreciate that tradition. Even those who aren’t interested in the TCG can find a use for theMoanacard, whether that’s to use it as a mini poster or sell it off as it’ll become one of the morevaluable Disney Lorcana cardsfor a while. Of course,I’m hoping, as is Disney, that it gets a new set of fans interested in the excellent card game.

I’m Happy To See Promo Cards Return
Pokemon And Yu-Gi-Oh Promo Cards Made Those Movies More Memorable
For those who caught the earlyPokémonmovies in the cinema or, like me, went to see theYu-Gi-Ohfilm, promo cards are a nostalgic trip. As a kid, getting a promo pack was the best thing to ever happen to me, especially as it came in a fancy gold foil that was a pleasure to unwrap. It didn’t really matter what cards were inside, but the exciting art and powerful monsters included were a blast. I promptly shoved them all into my deck when I got home while thinking all about the film I’d seen.
All 12 Enchanted Cards In Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter (& How Much They’re Worth)
Enchanted cards are the rarest variety in Disney Lorcana, with special artwork and foil, and some are already being valued quite highly.
That is the magic of promo cards. Sure, they’re a corporate tie-in, which I can’t help but feel a little cynical about. However, they tap into that child-like wonder of getting a free toy. More specific to promo cards was the fact thatthey introduced a whole new audience to the game it was promoting. OutsideYu-Gi-Oh, which I struggle to imagine people enjoying without at least some knowledge of the TCG, the trading card game was always secondary. For many, myself included, thePokémonanime and video games were the introduction to that series, not the TCG.

Unlike toys or posters, getting a card tied directly to a game makes you want to go out and buy more of those cards, especially if it has incredible art like some of thebest-looking Lorcana cards. So, if thisMoanacard can get a whole new audience to play it, that would be amazing. Sometimes, it’s all the encouragement anyone needs, like when someone gifts me a comic, and all of a sudden, I feel inclined to collect them all.
I really hope that thisMoanacard can serve not only as a great introduction to Disney Lorcana for a new audience but also usher in the age of getting free stuff whenever you see a film.

It’s a shame to me then that these promo cards faded out of existenceafter a while. Sure, we got a lot fewerPokémonandYu-Gi-Ohmovies, but really, any form of promotional tie-in disappeared. There have been a few things here and there, but it’s usually just the chance to win money or a trip away somewhere.
I miss that feeling of getting a pack or card and being able to take it away with me after the film finished. It felt like taking a piece of the film home with me. I really hope that thisMoanacard can serve not only as agreat introduction to Disney Lorcanafor a new audience but also usher in the age of getting free stuff whenever you see a film.
More Games Need Promo Movie Tie-Ins
Free Posters, In-Game Items, Or Figures
The free Disney Lorcana promo card has gotten me thinking about how more games should have movie tie-ins. I mean, we live in a world where video game adaptations are actually respected pieces of media and not frowned-upon flicks with little cultural value. Sure, not every video game movie is an incredible masterpiece, but they’re generating bigger audiences and higher critical scores, and that’s what matters. More importantly, from a purely cynical point of view, they’re ripe for cross-promotion.
Much like how theMoanacard will encourage fans to check out the incredibly well-receivedAzurite Seasset, a fun promo for a video game movie could encourage people to go out and buy the latest game in the series.
Call of Duty, for example, frequently does cross-promotion with brands like Papa Johns and Mountain Dew. Players will get in-game items and a tasty pizza. What’s not to love?It baffles me then that films likeSonichaven’t had a similar approachto getting bums in seats. A free keychain, a demo for a tie-in game, or some form of in-game item would make sense. SEGA made a full-blown freeSonicvisual novel for April Fools, so it doesn’t seem like a stretch to get some form of fun toy for seeing the film.
It’s not justSonicthat this could work for, but really any form of video game movie. They’re the ideal target for cross-promotion as they have tangible products with which fans can interact with once the movie is over. Much like how theMoanacard will encourage fans to check out the incrediblywell-receivedAzurite Seasset,a fun promo for a video game movie could encourage people to go out and buy the latest game in the series.
Does Disney Lorcana Have Pixar Cards?
Disney Lorcana is a new, trading card game by Ravensburger, and there are plans to add new cards from Disney’s famous Pixar studio.
It’s easy to feel like I just want free stuff whenever I see a movie. However, I really just want other people to enjoy that same feeling I had as a kid when I got my first promo pack. It’s great that Disney Lorcana is hopefully restarting this trend, even if it means, at the very least, just Disney movies get promo cards. It means that more people will get intoDisney Lorcana, more people will feel the joy of getting a gift, and more people will start going to the cinema, which is a plus in my eyes.
