Addam (Clinton Liberty) and his brother Alyn (Abubakar Salim) in House of the Dragon season 2 episode 2

To be honest, I’m going to admit that my response was the same as yours when I read the script. Because for a year-and-a-half, promoting the show, I was all about “It’s just her,” and “She’s the one” and so forth. Then I read that, and I was like, “Excuse me?!” [Laughs]

But I still maintain in that, I guess as Eve would say, in that very “mannish” way that his feelings for her are genuine. That sheisthe one. I am still working through it as to trying to find the reasoning behind it because exactly what you said is whatIsaid…

Alyn of Hull and Corlys Velaryon from House of the Dragon

My thing was, “OK, yeah, one child. OK, great. He’s a sailor, blah, blah, blah. But he then goes back and hasanotherchild, so what’s that? … So, I am still trying to find the way through it… Eve and I had long conversations where she would say, “Part of the thing that’s bothering Rhaenys is that this person must have been quite special.” Initially, I was like, “No, no, probably not.” But yeah, I think maybe there was. Maybe we’ll explore that later. I don’t know.

Lord Corlys' Illegitimate Sons Explained

House of the Dragonintroduces Alyn and Addamin the early episodes ofHouse of the Dragonseason 2, with both characters working for Corlys in his ship-building yard. Over the course of season 2, it becomes clear that Alyn and Addam are Corlys' illegitimate sons, and that this isn’t a secret to Rhaenys. Despite this, the bond between Rhaenys and Corlys remains strong right up to the events ofHouse of the Dragonseason 2, episode 4, and the Battle at Rook’s Rest, which tragically claims Rhaenys' life.

While it’s unclear what exactly lies ahead for Corlys in the remainder of season 2, at least one of his illegitimate sons is poised to play a major role. After Jacaerys (Harry Collett) and Rhaenyra hatch a plan to find riders for the unclaimed dragons at Dragonstone,House of the Dragonseason 2 episode 6seemingly confirms thatSeasmoke has now chosen Addam as his rider. The episode doesn’t explicitly show Addam riding Seasmoke, but the dragon is shown bowing down to him and Rhaenyra is subsequently given a report that Seasmoke and an unknown rider were spotted.

Why Corlys Velaryon “Owes” Addam & Alyn Of Hull In House Of The Dragon

House of the Dragon season 2 has introduced Addam and Alyn of Hull, suggesting that Lord Corlys “owes” them. Here’s what we know from the book!

Alyn, on the other hand, asHouse of the Dragonseason 2 has teased, could see a storyline that explores his role as Corlys' successor. The character has thus far been reluctant to embrace his Velaryon heritage, and the dynamic between him and Corlys could become more important as season 2 nears its conclusion. WhileHouse of the Dragonhasn’t been afraid to stray fromFire & Bloodwhen it comes to Alyn and Addam, the two characters do seem poised to play crucial roles in the episodes to come.
