Google’s popular Chrome browser for the iPhone and iPad is getting even better with the addition of four new features.

Google Lens Can Search Images, Text Simultaneously

One of the best features of Chrome, Google Lens, is taking a step forward. Previously, you could only take a photo or upload an image to search. Now you can also add text to the visual search for more relevant search results.

Depending on what you’re searching for with Lens, the search results might also include an AI Overview. you may access Lens by selecting the camera icon in the Search bar.

To help free up storage on your iPhone or iPad, you can now save content from the web directly to your Google Drive or Photos using Chrome. To add a file to Drive, select the Google Drive option when saving a file. To save an image from Chrome to Photos, long-press the image and chooseSave in Google Photos.

Just in time for the holiday shopping season, you can tap the new Shopping Insights feature to find the best deal. While online shopping, keep a lookout for a “Good deal now” notification. Tap that to see more information like price history, price tracking, and more buying options. To use this feature, you will need to be signed in to Chrome and have theMake Searches and Browsing Bettersetting switched on.

Finding out more about a specific location is also set to get better. Starting soon, when browsing and seeing an address, just tap the underlined address. you’re able to then see a small map of the location in Chrome. Google is “experimenting” with the feature, and it will roll out globally in the coming months.

A Better Search Experience to Battle Apple

Google Chrome has always been one of thebest third-party browsers for the iPhone. My favorite feature in Chrome is that it will sync bookmarks, history, and open tabs across platforms. That allows you to browse on an iPhone and then jump right back in on a Mac or other OS.

The Google Lens improvement in Chrome is definitely notable, especially with Apple’s Visual Intelligence launching before the end of the year.

Part of Apple Intelligence, and only for iPhone 16 users, you’re able to press the Camera Control button to take an image and then see detailed contextual information.
