Who Are the Blakksun Twins? Meet Whisper & Wrath Blakksun of Slag Galaxy

Cover B Card Stock Variant by Dan Mora forBatman: Off-World#6 (2025)

Whisper and Wrath Blakksun are sibling despots who have been ruthlessly conquering the Slag Galaxyone planet at a time, enslaving orphans along the way. Whisper, the male twin, is short in stature and resembles an unsettlingly creepy overgrown baby doll, while Wrath, the female twin, is tall and powerfully muscular. Despite their differences in size and physique, the twins share a distinct, unsettling look, sporting black and red costumes that complement their red, white, and black skin. Their most defining features are their bald heads and faces marked by blackened eye sockets, a red lower face, and a white upper face.

Yet, it’s not just their eerie appearance that makes these villains stand out, but their deadly powers as well. Wrath possesses immense, unparalleled strength, making her nearly unstoppable in battle.Whisper, true to his name, wields a terrifying ability—anyone who hears his whispers suffers an agonizing, bloody death. These powers have allowed the Blakksun twins to conquer and enslave most of the Slag Galaxy. Their terrifying reach was further demonstrated inBatman: Off-World#5when they visited a rebellious planet and slaughtered its 12 billion inhabitants, with the majority of the death toll attributed to Whisper’s horrific power.

Batman Just Survived the Impossible (& Dropped His Coldest Line Yet)

Panel Comes FromBatman: Off-World#6 (2025) – Art by Doug Mahnke, Jaime Mendoza, & David Baron

The Blakksun twins are introduced earlier in Aaron’s series, but Batman doesn’t encounter them until issue #6. In this issue, Bruce purposely gets himself captured and is left at the mercy of Whisper Blakksun, who begins whispering unintelligible words into his ear. Batman describes the pain and effects of the whispers in his internal monologue, feeling every part of him seize up and shut down, as he bleeds from his eyes, ears, and every other orifice. Yet, miraculously,Bruce doesn’t succumb to the deadly whispers, something Wrath points out has never happened beforeas no one has ever resisted her brother’s power.

Surviving the whispers is impressive on its own, but Bruce takes it further by giving Whisper a taste of his own medicine. As Batman’s internal monologue reveals,“I look this monster square in the eye as he’s doing everything in his power to whisper me to a screaming, bloody ruin… and I whisper back.”This moment of defiance is pure badassery, intensified when Whisper begins screaming in pain. The narrative doesn’t immediately reveal what Bruce whispered, but later the Dark Knight shares,“I tell this killer of billions that no matter the horrors he spews, his galaxy will be free. I tell him all of this, in so many words, asI whisper, over and over again… I am Batman.”

Batman Just Silenced Every Hater Who Ever Accused Him of Having Plot Armor

Batman has been accused of having a ridiculous amount of plot armor, but this new comic release just silenced all the haters in one fell swoop.

Batman Just Proved He Has the Mental Fortitude of a God

Batman essentially survived a villain he had no business surviving. The fact that no one before him had ever withstood Blakksun’s whispers—and that he has killed billions with them—shows just how extraordinary this feat was. While Aaron doesn’t explicitly explain why Bruce was able to survive what had vanquished so many before him, it’s implied that Bruce’s god-like mental fortitude is the key to his survival. What makes this even more impressive is that this takes place early in Batman’s career, before Robin, Batgirl, his time in the Justice League, and his worldwide renown. Hence, this series highlights just how exceptionalBatmanis, both physically and mentally.
