Doctor Doom is the best possible replacement for Kang, as the villain is the main foe of the comic book event that inspiresAvengers: Secret Wars. With the multiverse wide open,Avengers 5could also decide to put the MCU’s heroes up against a threat from another universe. After the Scarlet Witch’s rampage on Earth-838, a new version of that world’s Illuminati, and perhaps the Inhumans and the Fantastic Four, could come looking for revenge and fight Earth-616’s heroes.
There are also rumors that an Avengers vs X-Men movie could be in the works, and since The Russo Bros. have talked about their love for the X-Men, that could become the plot ofAvengers 5.The Marvelsrevealed a new universe where the X-Men exist, andDeadpool & Wolverineshould introduce a few more.
