Summary

Just in time forAhsoka’sone-year anniversary, runes found in theStar Warsshow have been translated by fans with major clues for the series' second season. Featured in the ruins of the Nightsister stronghold explored by the titular Ahsoka Tano on the planet Arcana, the runes reveal a cryptic message. As such, this newly discovered tease carries some exciting implications for the next season ofAhsokaand its overarching plot.

A series of runes are featured throughoutAhsoka’sepisodes and end-credits sequence, derived from thefully translatable and canonical Sith Tongue known as ur-Kittât. Visually, the Sith Tongue was inspired by the purely decorative glyphs found in original pieces ofStar Warsconcept art by Ralph McQuarrie. However,Ahsoka’srunic alphabet features new variations, presumably due to its use by the ancient Nightsisters of Peridea(suggesting ur-Kittât came later in theStar Warstimeline as an off-shoot).

Arcana Map Room In Ahsoka

Once fans learned how to read this new alphabet, Easter eggs were discovered such as the names ofall the planets in the Pathway to Peridea inAhsoka’send-credits, as well as references to Kujet on the walls of the Nightisters' Peridea temple, a Zeffo sage with ties to the Dathomiri Nightsisters. Now, the Arcana runes fromAhsoka’spremiere have been translated, revealing a riddle with exciting teases for the future withAhsokaseason 2:

THREE THERE WERE WHO MADE THE JOURNEY, WITHOUT WHOSE KNOWLEDGE THERE IS NO RETURNING. A PATHWAY CONNECTING NEAR AND FAR, ACROSS THE HEAVENS STAR TO STAR.

Din Djarin and Ahsoka-1

DESPITE GREAT POWERS WHICH DO OBJECT, THIS SECRET WAY THE THREE PROTECT. SO HEED THE PATH WITH A WATCHFUL EYE, FOR IF YOU WANDER YOU WILL DIE.

This new translation is very significant as it does support several theories forAhsokaseason 2, with particular reference to “The Three”, perhaps tying into the final scenes ofAhsoka’sfinale episode.

“The Three” Are The Key To Ahsoka Season 2

The Rhyme Likely Refers To The Mortis Gods

“The Three” mentioned in the riddle could be referencing the three Great Mothers on Peridea who allied their Nightsister magiks with the Imperial might of Grand Admiral Thrawn. However,it’s more likely that “The Three” are insteadStar Wars’Mortis godswhose massive monuments were discovered by Baylan Skoll at the end ofAhsoka’sfinale.Celestial beings serving as anchorites representing the Force and its three aspects, the Mortis gods could be the ones possessing great knowledge who protect this “secret way”, perhaps the World Between Worlds and its access to all space and time which Ahsoka has visited more than once (RebelsandAhsoka).

Likewise, the riddle’s threat of death on the path could also be teasingthe largely theorized Abeloth forAhsokaseason 2.A Force being of chaos and entropy who was once part of the Mortis Gods' family inStar WarsLegends,Abeloth was locked away and could perhaps be released by Skoll. At any rate,it’s remarkable thatAhsokaseemingly had secret teases pointing to its future as early as its premiere episode.
