From the owner and developer of TikTok and CapCut, Hypic is my go-to photo editing app on my phone, and there are plenty of reasons it’ll become your favorite too.
1Numerous Free Tools
Hypic is a mobile image editing tool available on Android and iOS. Whether you’re editing selfies, higher end smartphone photos, or just want to create some fun images and collages using Hypic, there is an abundance of tools to choose from, and many of them are free.
Similarly to Canva or Adobe Express, you can start your design from a template base. You can also upload your own image to edit from scratch. These two options allow you to edit your photo itself or allow your photo to become an element of a wider edited image for use in digital marketing, social media, or fun collages.

If choosing to edit a photo rather than adding it to a template, your tool options feel almost endless. There are retouch tools which include tools such as face enhance, makeup, relight, hair, expression, and sculpt. Keep in mind, however, that most retouch tools focus on visual enhancement for selfies and may affect your appearance or perception of yourself.
Alongside the retouch tools are filters, adjustments, and effects that allow you to manipulate parts of your image. The filters and effects use popular trends, some of which are free to use and some are paid Pro options. There are even more tools you may use to add or remove elements from your image, including AI images, stickers, backgrounds, text, erase, cutout, draw, overlay, reshape, and shapes.

You can easily get lost in the tools and features offered in Hypic. It surprises me how many are available for free and the high-quality output they create.
2Low Subscription Costs
Hypic is a free app, with an abundance of free tools and features. But, as with most other editing apps and software, it does offer a premium upgrade if you want even more from the app.
Hypic’s premium subscription is super affordable and easy to manage compared to the Canva or Adobe apps. The subscription price ranges from $6.99 for a month, up to $159.99 for a yearly plan. The prices may change depending on your region, as well as which tools are available under the free or paid plans.

3Integrates With CapCut
If you’ve considered using the CapCut mobile video editing app, you’ll be pleased to know that you can easily connect your Hypic photos to your CapCut account to add to your videos.
From CapCut, the image editing tool opens the Hypic app. Then, once you’ve edited your image however you see fit inside Hypic, you may select to send it back to open in CapCut. While there is no video editing feature within Hypic itself, this is a great connection between the apps and lets you add great image elements to your short-form videos.
4Forward-Thinking AI Tools
Most of Hypic’s editing tools use AI to help produce the best results, similar to thegreat AI tools in CapCut. Whether you’re reshaping your face or extending the frame, the AI is current and ready to go with minimal mistakes. That’s not even considering the AI filters themselves.
There’s a whole tool section for Hypic’s AI image filters. These include the ability to cartoonify yourself, change your hair color—which is pretty realistic, too—babify your portraits, turn yourself into a video game character, and dozens more options. There are even AI pet portrait options to include your animals in the fun.
Similarly to Photoshop or Canva, there’s an AI selection tool for cutting out your image’s subject perfectly. It’s one of the best tools forremoving backgrounds from your smartphone images.
5Easy Interface
Like its CapCut sibling, Hypic has a simple and easy-to-use interface. While there are lots of tools to find, it’s easy to figure out where they are.
All the tools featured within Hypic are a select-to-apply system, with some option sliders to change intensity or other minor aspects. You don’t need tolearn an entire photo editing softwareor follow complex tutorials to use Hypic successfully.
The homepage presents options for starting your project, whether you want to import your image first or begin with a template. Once the project is started, everything else is a case of tapping menu titles and scrolling through the effect options to find what fits your image best.
There are undo and redo tools, layer options—which you may reorder for the best layered results—and there’s even a batch edit tool if you want to apply the same effect to more than one photo.
6Direct Sharing to Social Apps
Since Hypic is owned by ByteDance—the people responsible for TikTok and other social sites—it has great social integration to share your images. Once you tap the Save icon, your image is not only downloaded straight to your phone, but you’re also presented with social sharing options: Share to TikTok and Share to Lemon8.
Your saved images don’t have any watermarks so you may share those directly to any other social sites like Instagram or Facebook. There’s also the option to further edit your image if you want to save variations of it.
7Great Quality Results
Despite that many of the tools in Hypic are just fun ways to edit pictures, I think the results are impressive and high quality. The AI technology adds great depth to filters and overlays, allowing for realistic results not achieved in many otherapps without an obvious AI tell.
Many templates would take a lot of time or effort to create from scratch, so the ability to use them and quickly add your photos while retaining high quality is certainly a plus for Hypic.

Hypic has become my go-to photo editing tool when editing from my phone. It isn’t available as a desktop app like its CapCut video partner, but for phone-based editing, it’s better than any other tool I’ve used.
I like that I can use the images across my social media for personal and professional use. I can create collages with photorealistic elements and seamlessly integrate my own images into them. And the trending templates keep the results stylish to keep up with changing online trends.
