Warning! This article contains spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine.
Summary
Deadpool & Wolverinefeatured many Fox Marvel character cameos, and some of them had been revealed prior to theMarvel Cinematic Universemovie’s release, while others were as shocking as they come. Spearheaded by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman,Deadpool & Wolverine’s all-star castincludedthe return of actors from past Fox Marvel movies, as well as stars finally getting the chance to play roles they had long been imagined as.
One of the biggest complaints about the MCU’s Multiverse Saga is that it has a lot of potential that projects barely explore.Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessfaced criticism for the number of different universes it visited and the cameos that were included. Well,Deadpool & Wolverine’s intense multiverse storywas perfect to bring in some shocking cameos, honoring the Fox Marvel legacy, and some of them had me very excited in the theater.

Every Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Explained
Deadpool & Wolverine is packed to the brim with cameos from across the entire run of Marvel films, combining the numerous timelines together.
10Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth
Wolverine’s Nemesis
Sabretooth could not be left out ofDeadpool & Wolverine.Victor Creed is Wolverine’s number one villain in the comics, and with Hugh Jackman choosing to come back as Logan, it was only fitting that he fought Sabretooth again on the big screen. The character’s cameo inDeadpool & Wolverinedid not remain a surprise for long, as Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth and his fight with Jackman’s Wolverine were caught inDeadpool & Wolverineset photos. Having leaked early, Marvel then decided to use Sabretooth in the movie’s trailers.
Sabretooth was only in the movie for a brief time, with Wolverine making quick work of the character as they fought, andLogan took off his head with his Adamantium claws. What was interesting is the MCU team’s choice to use Mane’s version of Sabretooth over Liev Schreiber’s, which is considerably more popular. Perhaps the decision was made based on how much time Sabretooth would have inDeadpool & Wolverine, as fans would likely have been upset if Schreiber showed up only to be unceremoniously killed. Still, I was a fan of the violent nature of his showdown with Wolverine.

Why X-Men Movies Recast Wolverine’s Nemesis Sabretooth
The X-Men movies feature different versions of characters across timelines, but Wolverine’s nemesis Sabretooth was recast in the same continuity.
9Aaron Stanford’s Pyro
The Villain Played A Bigger Role Than Expected
Another returning actor from Fox’s original X-Men movies was Aaron Stanford, whose Pyro was revealed in the trailers for the MCU movie. Pyro had an interesting role to play inDeadpool & Wolverine. The character seemed like Cassandra Nova’s top lieutenant in the Void but was working for two different sides, as the double agent conspired with the TVA’s Mr. Paradox. Pyro also had an impressive fight sequence, well, not really a fight, as he barely broke a sweat to control one of the members of the Fantastic Four — Johnny Storm.
That brief altercation showed Deadpool, Wolverine, and the audience — myself included — that Pyro was not someone to be taken lightly. Stanford was great in the role, with the actor now bringing an even darker edge to the character when compared to his previous appearances as the X-Men villain. I very much think he was at his best as Pyro in the MCU film. SinceStanford had last played Pyro in the controversialX-Men: The Last Stand, it was good to see him again in the role in a movie that should prove itself to be universally beloved.

EXCLUSIVE: Pyro actor Aaron Stanford opens up on finally getting a proper superhero suit and how Deadpool & Wolverine may see his powers upgraded.
8Dafne Keen’s X-23
An Emotional Return From Logan
Deadpool & Wolverine’s final trailerspoiled one of the movie’s biggest returning characters, as Dafne Keen reprised her role as X-23 fromLogan. It was touching to see Keen back not just as a random variant of the character butan older version of the Laura seen opposite Jackman’s Wolverine inLogan. X-23 was as cool as ever, with Keen never missing a beat in the role. The character was part of some of the movie’s most emotional scenes, giving Jackman’s new Wolverine a much-needed heart-to-heart that led to him becoming the best version of himself.
From the moment she appeared until the end of the film,Keen showed that Marvel would be wise to use her X-23 more in the future. It was interesting thatDeadpool & Wolverine’s ending saw X-23 join Wade Wilson, Logan, and Deadpool’s friends at a celebratory dinner. Maybe that is Marvel’s way of teasing that X-23 will be back, appearing alongside Deadpool and Wolverine whenever they show up next in the MCU, which I would very much like to see, with Keen’s X-23 being part of the MCU’s X-Men reboot.

Deadpool & Wolverine Ending Explained
Deadpool & Wolverine’s ending is filled with multiversal stakes, insane cameos, and big teases for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
7Blake Lively’s Ladypool
The Speculation Finally Came To An End
After months of speculation and tiny glimpses in theDeadpool & Wolverinetrailers, the release of the movie confirmed that Blake Lively was playing Lady Deadpool — Ladypool in the MCU.The two top candidates for the role were Lively and singer/actress Taylor Swift. I thought both could work as the character, as they could each bring out something different in the role that could contrast well with Reynolds' Deadpool.
That said, having Lively be the one to play Ladypool inDeadpool & Wolverinewas the best possible choice. Not only is the actress married to Reynolds, adding a very Deadpool-like meta element to the multiverse casting, but Lively also possesses the same kind of wit that has made the Merc With a Mouth so popular. Although she was only briefly in the movie,I was delighted to hear Lively in the role, with Ladypool being front and center of the Deadpool Corps.

Every Deadpool Variant In Deadpool & Wolverine Explained
As a big installment in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, Deadpool & Wolverine includes several variants of the former hero by the time the end credits roll.
6Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan
A Fox Marvel Actor Returns In A Different Way
There are multiple layers to Jon Favreau’s role as Happy Hogan inDeadpool & Wolverine. While the actor was playing his MCU character, Favreau has a past in Fox’s Marvel movies. He was the one who portrayed Foggy Nelson in Ben Affleck’s Daredevil film. While Affleck himself was only mentioned inDeadpool & Wolverine, with Cassandra Nova having killed that Daredevil, Jennifer Garner’s Elektra appeared, which made it two actors from 2003’sDaredevilcoming back, something I quite liked.
I thought the movie’s use of Favreau was smart, as it set the tone early on for the kind of broader mission Deadpool was on, which was to find a higher purpose for what he does. It was also very interesting to learn thatDeadpool had tried to join the Avengers, only for Happy to turn him down gently. I hope we get to see more of the two inAvengers 5orAvengers: Secret Wars.

Deadpool & Wolverine: 100 Marvel Easter Eggs & References Explained
Deadpool & Wolverine quite literally has over 100 different Easter eggs, references, and cameos galore. Here are all the ones we found.
5Jennifer Garner’s Elektra
The Marvel Character Is Redeemed
The crew behindDeadpool & Wolverinedid their best to keep the movie’s biggest cameos a secret, but the return of Jennifer Garner’s Elektra ended up being a special case. Long before set photos and rumors started to be disseminated,Garner’s Elektra was reported to appear in the movie. The news was never confirmed by Marvel or the actress, with no sign of Garner’s return as her Marvel character until she showed up onscreen inDeadpool & Wolverine.
Despite being reported to appear early on, the reveal that Garner was in the movie still packed quite a punch, with the character being one of the members of the Resistance fighting against Cassandra Nova in the Void. After Garner’s Elektra solo movie bombed at the box office many years ago, I thought it was exciting to see the actress rewrite history on the big screen, delivering a fierce and thrilling performance that issure to turn many people’s opinions on her version of Elektra around by the end ofDeadpool & Wolverine.

Deadpool & Wolverine has teased an enormous and exciting cast, but one unusual candidate may retroactively redeem an old Marvel movie decades later.
4Wesley Snipes' Blade
The MCU Has A Blade At Last — Sort Of
While the MCU can’t seem to get its Blade movie right, with the project losing multiple directors and having the script be rewritten from scratch,Deadpool & Wolverineincluded Wesley Snipes' iconic Daywalker. Despiterumors having circled for years that Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds and Snipes feuded on the set ofBlade: Trinity, the actor came back to appear alongside Reynolds inDeadpool & Wolverine, with both Blade and Deadpool making jokes about those rumors, which I thought was hilarious and fitting.
Snipes has always maintained that he is the only actor fit to play Blade in live-action, which is something that the MCU movie touched on, asBlade said there will always be only one of him. Snipes' return was a major surprise, even though the actor had been teasing a possible return on social media. While the MCU’s Blade movie with Mahershala Ali does not get off the ground, at least fans got to remember why Snipes' Blade was so iconic, with the character having violent fight scenes and fun chemistry with the other members of the Resistance inDeadpool & Wolverine.

New Blade Movie: Cast, Release Date & Everything We Know
Marvel’s new Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali is moving forward, and here’s everything we know about the MCU film’s release date, cast, and story.
3Channing Tatum’s Gambit
Marvel Finally Lets The Actor Play His Dream Hero
Channing Tatum finally got the chance to play his Marvel dream role. The actor was cast as Gambit ten years ago to lead a solo movieas the X-Men member. However, after years in development hell with directors and writers departing the project, Tatum’s Gambit film was killed when Disney bought Fox. Since Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had other plans for the X-Men, it seemed like Tatum would never be able to play Gambit, a character he has always said he loved dearly.
Thankfully,Deadpool & Wolverineallowed Tatum to play Gambit in one of the movie’s most shocking cameos. The actor did great in the role, with every second he was onscreen showing just how much fun Tatum was having as Gambit. Marvel Studios gave him a comic book-accurate costume, with Tatum doing Remy LeBeau’s signature Cajun accent.Tatum’s Gambit movie was going to be R-rated, so it is fitting that the actor played the hero inDeadpool & Wolverine, with his character being the focus of several hilarious jokes. I would personally would like to see more of Tatum as Gambit.

Marvel Finally Did An Overlooked X-Men Character Justice After 15 Years Of Live-Action Disappointment
Marvel Studios’ X-Men ‘97 continues to deliver, and the animated series has shown more respect for a mutant than the Fox X-Men movies ever did.
2Henry Cavill’s Wolverine
From Superman To The MCU
Few actors could have made as much of a splash with a cameo inDeadpool & Wolverinecompared to Henry Cavill. The star has given life to the most iconic superhero of all time, DC’s Superman. However, after years of controversial releases and decisions in the DCEU, Cavill was replaced as the Man of Steel, with David Corenswet set to play Clark Kent in director James Gunn’s upcoming Superman reboot for the new DC Universe.
With Cavill out of DC, fans had been asking for the star to make the jump to Marvel.Cavill became one of the most popular fancastings to play the MCU’s Wolverine, and just like was the case for John Krasinski’s role as a multiverse version of Reed Richards inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Kevin Feige showed that he was listening to the fans. Cavill had a brief cameo as Logan inDeadpool & Wolverine, which included the mutant’s signature cigar and Cavill’s famous fist reload motion fromMission: Impossible - Fallout. Maybe Cavill should be the MCU’s Wolverine?

Henry Cavill’s 3 Perfect Marvel Roles Could Make Him A Major Part Of The MCU’s Future
Henry Cavill has left DC, and now that he is no longer Superman, the actor could join the MCU in a few different roles, including the one he wants to.
1Chris Evans’ Human Torch
The Biggest Deadpool & Wolverine Cameo
WhileDeadpool & Wolverinefeatured many exciting cameos from Fox’s Marvel movies, no appearance was bigger than my favorite cameo, the return of the MCU’s Captain America star Chris Evans.Deadpool & Wolverineknew just how to play with fans' expectations. Early on in the movie,a scene in the TVA establishes Deadpool’s respect for Captain America. When Evans appears in the Void wearing a cloak that masks his face and costume, Deadpool and the audience are led to believe that the actor is back as Captain America after having left the MCU in 2019’sAvengers: Endgame.
Deadpool & Wolverine Post-Credits Scenes Explained
Deadpool & Wolverine has two credits scenes, so we break down what they both mean for the future and historic legacy of Marvel movies.
That is where the fun begins, asEvans shouts “Flame On” to reveal that he is actually back as his version of Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, from the 2000s Fantastic Four movies. While Evans is not in the movie for long, his presence elevates the project, with the actor back to his sarcastic Johnny Storm, offering a stark contrast from his Captain America. Getting Evans back was one of the biggest movesDeadpool & Wolverinecould have made, with the surprise factor and the actor’s hilarious performance making the Human Torch the film’s best Fox Marvel cameo.
