WARNING: Contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Supacell season 1!

Summary

Supacell’s season 1 cliffhanger ending leaves several questions that can be answered in season 2 of Rapman’s superhero show. Set in South London,Supacelltells the story of Michael (Tosin Cole), who not only discovers that he has superpowers, but that he also has to bring together four other super-powered Londoners. Throughoutseason 1, Michael struggled to uniteSupacell’s cast of characters, as he battled mysterious hooded figures while also trying to keep his fiancée Dionne (Adelayo Adedayo) safe. While Michael eventually succeeds in uniting Sabrina (Nadine Mills), Andre (Eric Kofi-Abrefa), Rodney (Calvin Demba) and Tazer (Josh Tedeku), he still loses Dionne.

Dionne’s death, and the revelations about the identity of the hooded figures are two huge elements from theend ofSupacellseason 1that set up season 2’s story. However, the final revelation that Victoria (Sian Brooke), the kindly head of the Sickle Cell Centre, isSupacell’s real big bad, changes the game entirely. As viewers patiently wait forSupacellseason 2 to be confirmed by Netflix, there’s plenty of time to ponder the big questions that remain unanswered.

Netflix’s Supacell: Every Superhero, Their Powers & Origin Stories, Explained

Supacell is a brand new superhero show that focuses on characters from various backgrounds across South London, who develop mysterious powers.

10Who Hired Krazy And The Hooded Figures?

Private contractors or a sinister government agency?

Supacellseason 1, episode 6 properly introduced Eddie Marsan as Ray, who appeared to be the head of the organization that was pursuing Michael and other super-powered Londoners. The nameless organization appeared to have an incredible amount of money and technology at their disposal, not to mention a great deal of influence. When Dionne suggested calling the police to rescue Jasmine Johnson, the girl’s father said that local law enforcement were powerless. This suggests one of two things, that the mysterious organization is a shadowy government agency or an incredibly wealthy private enterprise.

9How Does The Sickle Cell Centre Fit In To Victoria’s Plan?

Victoria is a key figure in both organizations.

Sickle cell diseaseplays an important role in the story ofSupacell, as everyone’s superpowers are caused by a mutation in the blood of someone whose parent, or parents had the condition. Michael, Sabrina, Andre, Tazer, and Rodney all have genetic connections to people who’ve had sickle cell. Rather than inherit the disease, they, and others like them, have instead mutated, as Ray explains:

“At least one of your parents had sickle cell…or they both had the trait. And supacell is a mutation of sickle cell. It’s very rare, and even if you have it, it can lay dormant in your body forever. But it can also awaken, given the right conditions. Close proximity with another activated supacell is most common.”

InSupacell, Michael’s mother is struggling with the painful symptoms of sickle cell, which is why he pays for her to stay in the Sickle Cell Centre run by Victoria. There’s something very sinister about Victoria running a private health care facility for sickle cell patients while also hunting down their super-powered offspring. With Michael firmly in Victoria’s sights at the end ofSupacellseason 1, his mother could become an unwitting pawn in the villainous scheme of Victoria and Ray.

8What Do Ray And Victoria Want To Do With Supacell?

Do they want to kill or cure?

While trying to recruit Andre, Ray promised that the organization only wanted to help people to understand and control their powers. That’s clearly not the case, as the hooded figures led by Krazy (Ghetts) were weaponized out in the field. GivenSupacell’s rich social and political commentary, there’s the possibility that Ray and Victoria are white supremacists intent on neutralizing the perceived threat of black people with superpowers. Alternatively, Ray and Victoria may be building their own private army, but to what end? Michael may find answers to these questions when he returns to the future inSupacellseason 2.

Supacell Season 2: Confirmation, Cast, Story & Everything We Know

Netflix’s hit superhero series Supacell enthralled viewers throughout its first season, and now the British action series will return for season 2.

7Is Krazy Really Dead?

Or did he absorb Jasmine’s healing powers?

Victoria orders Krazy’s death at the end ofSupacellseason 1, as a punishment for his failure to capture Michael, Tazer, Sabrina, Andre, and Rodney. While we hear the gunshots, we don’t see Krazy die, meaning thatthevillain could return inSupacellseason 2. Krazy was healed by Jasmine moments before being shot, and he has the ability to absorb other powers. It’s therefore possible that Krazy absorbed Jasmine’s healing powers and used them on himself to heal his bullet wounds. If Krazy is still alive, then it’s bad news for Victoria, Ray, Michael and Tazer inSupacellseason 2.

6Has Michael Changed The Future?

How did Dionne’s early death change what Michael saw?

Michael did ultimately change the future at the end ofSupacell, just not in the way that he’d hoped. In the dystopian future that he glimpsed in the first episode,Dionne died in July 2024, which gives her “three months to live”. These three months are cruelly cut short when Dionne takes a bullet from Krazy’s gun at the climax of his battle with Michael and the others. Fundamentally, this has altered the future for Michael and the others. It remains to be seen how Dionne’s early death, and Michael’s quest for revenge alters the future of him and his fellow superheroes.

5Who Sent The Text?

How did Rodney and Sabrina know to leave the house?

There’s a strange moment just before Michael, Dionne, Rodney, and Sabrina drive into A-Town inSupacellepisode 6. Rodney says he received a text notifying he and Sabrina of where A-Town was, but Michael says he sent no such text. The text message had fortuitous timing because it meant that Rodney and Sabrina had left the house before the SWAT team kicked down the doors. As Michael can time travel, maybe a future version of him sent the text back in time to ensure that they’d be there with him and Dionne. Or maybe Michael, Sabrina and Rodney had someone else looking out for them.

4What Happened To Spud?

He appeared to make a miraculous recovery.

Did Spud just pull through against the odds? Or was there a super-powered intervention that brought him back from the brink?

InSupacellepisode 5, Spud (Giacomo Mancini) was unconscious after being severely beaten by Krazy’s gang. A grief-stricken Rodney repeatedly stated that the hospital didn’t think Spud would ever wake up. He asked Sabrina to keep an eye on him, and even asked Michael if he could time travel to save Spud from his fate. Fast-forward to the end of episode 6, anda bruised and bloody Spud is having a drink in Onyx a few days after the climactic battle with Krazy. Did Spud just pull through against the odds? Or was there a super-powered intervention that brought him back from the brink?

3Does Anyone Else Have Powers?

Sharleen and AJ also presumably have Supacell.

Sabrina’s sister Sharleen (Rayxia Ojo) is locked up because she’s believed to have powers which haven’t yet manifested inSupacell. Ray does state that the powers can lie dormant, meaning that Sharleen may never manifest them. However, forced to endure the rigorous tests of Victoria and Ray, Sharleen may find herself demonstrating some powers of her own inSupacellseason 2. Another potential super-powered candidate is Andre’s son, AJ (Ky-Mani Carty), who could have inherited the same blood mutation from his father.

Supacell Season 2 Theory Claims Another Character Will Get Superpowers Soon

One theory suggests that the British Netflix superhero series Supacell could see Andre’s son, A.J. acquiring hereditary superpowers in season 2.

Andre and AJ’s relationship became strained toward the end ofSupacellseason 1, as Andre’s shame and his new gifts overshadowed his ability to be a good father. AJ was last seen selling drugs in A-Town, going down the dark road that Andre wanted his son to avoid. As AJ spirals into a life of crime, he may find himself in a life-threatening situation that awakens his dormant powers inSupacellseason 2.

2What Is It About Michael, Sabrina, Tazer, Andre, & Rodney That Saves The World?

Future Michael is very insistent they must stay together.

To save the world, it’s very important that Michael, Sabrina, Tazer, Andre and Rodney remain together, but why? Their climactic battle with Krazy and the hooded figures inSupacellseason 1 definitely showcases how well they work as a team, but is there more to it than that? While it’s unclear what Ray and Victoria are planning, Future Michael is clear that by uniting with Sabrina, Tazer, Andre, and Rodney, they can save the world. Whether it’s the combination of their specific powers, particular outlook, their strength as a team, or all three that ultimately saves the day remains to be seen.

1Will There Be A Supacell Season 2?

Netflix has yet to make an announcement.

Perhaps the biggest question left by the end ofSupacellis whether there will be a second season. Still, Rapman is pragmatic aboutSupacell’s season 2 chances in an interview withUNILAD. Read his quote below:

I’ve told Netflix loads of times that I’ve got plans for multiple seasons. But you know how it goes, they’re gonna see how it does, and hopefully we get the next season. But I told them, I’ve got a three-season idea story in my head. So, I got three, not saying it could never go over, but I’ve got three stories, these three seasons in my head, of where I know where the story goes. So, I’m hoping that it comes out, performs really well, and we can go on a second part.

Spud and Rodney have a drink in Onyx in Supacell

Supacellhad a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is a loud-and-clear message about the show’s critical acclaim and audience response. However, Netflix will be looking at the numbers inSupacell’s first 30 days on the service to see if it’s worth their money to commission season 2.Supacellhas quickly become a word-of-mouth hit with audiences, thanks to its fresh take on the superhero genre. The audience appeal, and the show’s critical acclaim should surely be enough to secure further adventures for Michael and his team.
